In an exciting development for gamers, FromSoftware’s Elden Ring: Nightreign emerged as June 2025’s best-selling video game in the United States. According to analytics firm Circana, this thrilling multiplayer co-op spin-off made its debut on May 30, 2025, available on Xbox Series S|X, PlayStation 5, PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
Elden Ring: Nightreign faced tough competition but still outperformed Sony’s PS5 exclusive Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, which secured the second spot, and Nintendo’s Switch 2 exclusive, Mario Kart World, in third. The game’s multiplatform release likely played a key role in boosting its sales, with 3.5 million copies sold globally within just five days, including 2 million on the launch day alone. Impressively, 36% of those sales came from the U.S.
Building on Elden Ring’s enduring popularity—30 million units sold since 2022—Nightreign captivated gamers with its co-op gameplay and thrilling Nightlord bosses. Remarkably, 7.5% of players conquered all Nightlords within just five days of launch. On its first day, the game reached a peak of 313,593 concurrent players, despite some initial criticisms regarding the absence of duo co-op. FromSoftware listened to feedback, implementing quality-of-life updates such as auto-resurrect features and improved leveling curves, enhancing its Steam reviews to a positive 78%.
Rounding out June’s top five best-sellers were Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Stellar Blade, Death Stranding 2, Mario Kart World, and Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, with Cyberpunk 2077 also seeing a boost due to its Nintendo Switch 2 release.
FromSoftware continues to set standards in the gaming industry, delivering immersive experiences and captivating gameplay that keep fans coming back for more.
