Dragon’s Dogma 2 Update Adds Unlimited Fast Travel With Eternal Ferrystone
Capcom has rolled out a major new update for Dragon’s Dogma 2, and it directly addresses one of the most talked-about issues among players: fast travel.
The update introduces the Eternal Ferrystone, a powerful new item that allows unlimited fast travel across the world. For new players, the Eternal Ferrystone becomes available early in the story after meeting Brant during the Seat of the Sovran quest. Players who have already started their journey will not need to restart, as the item will be added automatically to their inventory.
Fast travel has been one of the most debated features in Dragon’s Dogma 2 since launch. The original system relied on limited-use Ferrystones and a small number of Portcrystals placed throughout the game world. While this design encouraged exploration, danger, and unexpected encounters, many players felt that repeated backtracking could slow down the pace of the adventure, especially during longer sessions.
With the Eternal Ferrystone, traveling across Vermund and Battahl should now feel much smoother. Capcom has also added more Portcrystal locations, giving players extra destination points to choose from. Another helpful change allows Ferrystones to be used directly from the map screen, making the fast travel system quicker and easier to manage.
The update does more than improve travel. Dragon’s Dogma 2 also receives several quality-of-life changes designed to make the overall experience more enjoyable. Photo Mode now includes a free camera, giving players greater control when capturing dramatic battles, scenic landscapes, and character moments. Players can also disable certain pawn interactions, which should help reduce repeated dialogue and interruptions during exploration.
Capcom has lowered the cost of inn and barber services as well, making it easier for players to rest, recover, and customize their character’s appearance without spending as much gold. Pawns also gain a new Guardian specialization, allowing them to better protect the Arisen from sudden enemy attacks and dangerous ambushes.
These changes make Dragon’s Dogma 2 more accessible while still keeping its focus on exploration, adventure, and unpredictable encounters. The addition of unlimited fast travel is likely to be welcomed by players who enjoy the game’s world but want more control over how they move through it.
Capcom has also confirmed that another major Dragon’s Dogma 2 update is planned for August. A larger expansion, Dark Arisen, is expected to arrive later this year, suggesting that the fantasy RPG still has plenty of new content ahead.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 launched in March 2024 for Windows PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.
