Capcom Spotlight TGS 2026: Biggest Reveals, New Trailers, and Release Dates

Capcom Spotlight TGS 2026 Recap: Mega Man, Monster Hunter, Dragon’s Dogma 2, Street Fighter 6, and Resident Evil Updates

Capcom opened its Tokyo Game Show 2026 presence with a packed 40-minute Spotlight presentation on September 16, giving fans a closer look at several major upcoming releases. The showcase featured fresh gameplay details, release dates, DLC announcements, expansion news, and platform updates across some of Capcom’s biggest franchises, including Mega Man, Monster Hunter, Dragon’s Dogma, Street Fighter, Pragmata, and Resident Evil.

The broadcast began with a major spotlight on Mega Man: Dual Override, one of the most anticipated titles in Capcom’s lineup. The presentation confirmed that Proto Man will be playable as a second protagonist, offering a very different combat style from Mega Man. While Mega Man focuses on ranged attacks and classic blaster-based action, Proto Man is designed around close-range combat, shield mechanics, and more aggressive encounters.

Capcom also shared new details on the Custom Chip System, which will allow players to customize their approach with more than 50 active and passive chips. These chips appear to play a major role in shaping playstyles, giving players more flexibility during combat and exploration. The game will also feature a three-area stage structure and a dangerous Override limiter state, described as a high-risk mechanic that could significantly change the flow of battle.

Mega Man: Dual Override is scheduled to launch in Spring 2027 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Capcom also used the presentation to reveal a surprise crossover for Pragmata. A free Mega Man Pack DLC is now available for the sci-fi adventure, giving main characters Hugh and Diana themed outfits inspired by Mega Man and Roll. The pack also includes new gestures and background music, adding a nostalgic Capcom touch to the futuristic world of Pragmata.

Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance also received a major update during the showcase. The new trailer confirmed the return of the iconic Elder Dragon Teostra, a fan-favorite monster known for its explosive attacks and intimidating presence. Its return is likely to be a major highlight for longtime Monster Hunter players.

Capcom also confirmed that several quality-of-life improvements requested by the community are coming to both the Ascendance expansion and the base version of Monster Hunter Wilds. These updates include faster weapon swapping without needing to mount a Seikret and the ability to change Item Box equipment outside the tent. These improvements should make hunts smoother and reduce downtime between major encounters.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 fans also received the news they had been waiting for. Capcom officially detailed Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, a paid expansion launching October 9, 2026. The expansion will be available for current PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC owners for $29.99.

Dark Arisen takes players to Norgan, a harsh snow-covered region filled with new threats and endgame challenges. One of the biggest additions is the introduction of 12 Lost Rites dungeons, designed for high-level players looking for more demanding content after completing the main adventure.

The same day, Dragon’s Dogma 2 will arrive on Nintendo Switch 2 for the first time. This version will include both the base game and the Dark Arisen expansion in one bundled package priced at $49.99, making it a strong entry point for new players on Nintendo’s latest hardware.

Street Fighter 6 also made an appearance with the reveal of its next Year 4 DLC fighter. Arjun will join the roster on October 13, 2026, expanding the game’s already diverse lineup of characters. Capcom did not go into deep detail about Arjun’s full fighting style during the presentation, but the announcement adds another major date to the Street Fighter 6 content calendar.

Alongside Arjun’s release, C. Viper will receive Outfit 4, giving fans of the returning fighter another customization option. Street Fighter 6 continues to build momentum with regular character additions, costumes, and competitive updates.

Resident Evil had a strong presence as well, with Capcom confirming more native releases for Nintendo Switch 2. Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition will launch on the platform on October 16, 2026.

These releases will join Resident Evil 7, Resident Evil Village, and Resident Evil Requiem on Nintendo Switch 2, further expanding the franchise’s presence on the system. Capcom appears to be making a clear push to bring more of its modern Resident Evil catalog to a wider audience.

However, fans hoping for a closer look at Resident Evil Veronica were left waiting. The title did not appear in gameplay form during the Spotlight, and it was not shown on the Tokyo Game Show floor. Capcom’s store presence only included a small selection of Veronica-themed accessories. The remake is still planned for a 2027 release, but no dedicated showcase date has been announced yet.

Overall, Capcom’s TGS 2026 Spotlight delivered a broad and exciting look at the company’s future lineup. Mega Man: Dual Override received meaningful gameplay details, Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance brought back a legendary Elder Dragon, Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen finally locked in a release date, Street Fighter 6 added another DLC fighter, and Resident Evil continued its expansion onto Nintendo Switch 2.

With major releases and expansions stretching into 2027, Capcom has made it clear that its biggest franchises still have plenty of momentum ahead.
