Dragon’s Dogma 2 is about to become a more player-friendly experience, with Capcom preparing to remove several controversial paid DLC items from sale and improve the game through upcoming updates.
Starting June 25, sales of multiple Dragon’s Dogma 2 add-ons are scheduled to end. The list includes Dragon’s Dogma 2 Deluxe Edition content and several small downloadable items such as A Boon for Adventurers – New Journey Pack, Harpysnare Smoke Beacons, Heartfelt Pendant, Ambivalent Rift Incense, Makeshift Gaol Key, Art of Metamorphosis, Portcrystal, Wakestone, and Rift Crystal packs containing 500, 1,500, or 2,500 crystals.
Many of these paid extras have been heavily criticized by players, especially on Steam, where much of the DLC has received mostly negative feedback. The main complaint has been that several items feel like basic convenience features that should have been included in the core game rather than sold separately. Fast travel, character editing, resurrection items, and Rift Crystal packs all became points of frustration for players who felt Dragon’s Dogma 2 already carried a premium price.
One of the biggest changes coming with Capcom’s update is the introduction of a permanent Destination Crystal. This new feature is designed to make fast travel in Dragon’s Dogma 2 much more convenient without requiring players to buy a separate Warp Location Marker. For many fans, this is a welcome shift, as travel and exploration are central parts of the Dragon’s Dogma experience, but excessive friction in fast travel has been a frequent topic of debate since launch.
The removal of these paid add-ons suggests Capcom is listening to player feedback and trying to improve the game’s overall reputation. While Dragon’s Dogma 2 earned attention for its massive open world, dynamic encounters, and unique Pawn system, its launch was also clouded by criticism over microtransactions and technical issues. By making certain convenience features more accessible through updates, the game could become more appealing to both returning players and newcomers.
Capcom is also planning another major update toward the end of August. This second update is expected to focus on performance improvements and quality-of-life features, including additional save slots. The addition of more save slots could be especially important for players who want more flexibility in their adventures, experiment with different choices, or share the game with others on the same system.
Performance has been another major concern for Dragon’s Dogma 2 players, particularly in busy areas and large cities where frame rates can fluctuate. If the August update delivers meaningful optimization, it could significantly improve the overall experience and help the game regain momentum.
The upcoming changes mark an important moment for Dragon’s Dogma 2. Instead of continuing to sell unpopular convenience-based DLC, Capcom appears to be shifting toward improving the base game and addressing long-standing complaints. That approach could help restore confidence among players who were disappointed by the original monetization strategy.
For anyone who has been waiting to jump into Dragon’s Dogma 2, the next few months may be the best time to pay attention. With paid DLC being phased out, fast travel becoming more convenient, performance updates on the way, and additional save slots planned, the game is moving in a more positive direction.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 still has the foundation of a memorable action RPG, and these updates could make its world feel smoother, fairer, and more enjoyable to explore. If Capcom continues down this path, the game may become not only better but also a much easier recommendation for fans of open-world fantasy adventures.
