Fresh leaks are giving creators their first real clue about when DJI’s next “Pro” pocket gimbal camera could land. According to the latest rumor, the DJI Osmo Pocket 4 Pro is now expected to release in June 2026, just a couple of months after the standard DJI Osmo Pocket 4 is set to debut globally on April 16.
If the timing is accurate, DJI’s rollout will feel unusual. Launching the regular model first, then following up with the Pro version roughly two months later, doesn’t look like a carefully staged marketing plan as much as a sign that the Osmo Pocket 4 Pro may have needed extra time. One possible reason is complexity: leaks suggest the Pro model has a more advanced build, and that could require additional testing, tuning, or production prep before it’s ready for a full release.
So what makes the DJI Osmo Pocket 4 Pro worth waiting for?
The headline upgrade is the rumored dual-camera design, which is expected to bring 3x optical zoom. That’s a major deal for anyone who shoots travel footage, interviews, street content, or product videos and wants real zoom without sacrificing image quality like digital zoom often does.
Leaks also hint that the Pocket 4 Pro may be physically larger than the standard Pocket 4. While that could make it slightly less “pocketable,” it may come with a practical advantage: a larger battery. For creators who film long sessions, battery life matters just as much as specs, especially when you’re using high frame rates or heavy stabilization.
Meanwhile, the standard DJI Osmo Pocket 4 already looks like a serious upgrade on its own. It’s expected to offer 4K video at up to 240fps, improved subject tracking, internal storage, better dynamic range, two additional buttons for faster control, and a magnetic gimbal head designed to support accessories such as fill lights. In other words, the regular Pocket 4 seems built for faster shooting, smoother tracking, and more flexible add-ons right out of the gate.
The big question is how DJI will push the Pro model beyond “just” the dual-camera zoom.
A true Pro version could add features that creators have been asking for, like higher-end audio options and smarter shooting tools. Possibilities being discussed include a magnetic shotgun microphone accessory for more professional sound, automatic lens switching that chooses the best camera depending on what you’re filming, and—if DJI really wants to raise the bar—some form of dust and water resistance for filming in less controlled environments.
Competition will also be heating up in 2026. The DJI Osmo Pocket 4 Pro won’t be the only dual-camera gimbal camera on the market, with rivals preparing their own dual-lens setups and previews already starting to appear. That makes the rumored June 2026 timing even more important: arriving too late could give competing models time to grab attention from vloggers and creators shopping for their next compact camera upgrade.
For now, the clearest takeaway is this: if you want DJI’s most advanced pocket gimbal camera with rumored optical zoom and potentially better battery life, June 2026 is the month to watch. If you need a powerful compact gimbal sooner, the standard Osmo Pocket 4 launching on April 16 may already cover most creators’ needs—especially with 4K/240fps, improved tracking, and a more accessory-friendly design.
