DJI Osmo Pocket 4P Leak Reveals Variable Aperture, 48MP Zoom Lens and D-Log 2 Support

DJI Osmo Pocket 4P leak points to a powerful “mini cinema camera” with dual cameras, 6K video and a higher price

DJI may be preparing one of its most ambitious pocket gimbal cameras yet. A new leak claims the upcoming DJI Osmo Pocket 4P, also referred to as the Osmo Pocket 4 Pro, will bring a major hardware upgrade aimed at creators who want professional-looking video from a compact, handheld device.

The Osmo Pocket line has already become popular with vloggers, travel creators and solo filmmakers, but the rumored Pocket 4P appears to be pushing into more serious filmmaking territory. DJI reportedly teased the device at Cannes as a “mini cinema camera,” and the leaked specifications suggest that description may not be just marketing hype.

According to the unconfirmed information, the DJI Osmo Pocket 4P will feature a dual-camera gimbal system. The main camera is said to use a 1-inch 50MP sensor paired with a 20mm equivalent lens. That alone would make it a strong option for low-light shooting, wide establishing shots, travel videos and high-quality vlogs.

The biggest upgrade, however, could be the variable aperture. The leak claims the main lens will support an f/1.7 to f/2.8 aperture range, giving creators more control over exposure, background blur and depth of field. This would be a major advantage over fixed-aperture pocket cameras, especially for users who want a more cinematic look without carrying a larger mirrorless camera setup.

The second camera is rumored to be a 48MP telephoto sensor with a 1/1.5-inch size and a 70mm equivalent focal length at f/2.8. This would give the DJI Osmo Pocket 4P a true 3x optical zoom option, making it much more versatile for portraits, product shots, close-ups and compressed cinematic framing. A lossless zoom mode is also mentioned in the leak, which could further expand the shooting flexibility of the compact gimbal camera.

Video performance may be another major selling point. The leaked DJI Osmo Pocket 4P specs point to 6K video recording at up to 60 frames per second. The camera is also expected to support 4K slow-motion capture at up to 240 frames per second, allowing creators to produce dramatic action shots, cinematic B-roll and smooth high-speed footage.

Perhaps the most eye-catching detail is the claimed 17 stops of dynamic range through a new D-Log2 color profile. If accurate, this would put the Pocket 4P much closer to professional hybrid cameras in terms of highlight and shadow recovery. For filmmakers who color grade their footage, D-Log2 could make the device far more useful in demanding lighting conditions such as sunsets, city nights, bright skies and high-contrast indoor scenes.

The rumored DJI Osmo Pocket 4P price in Europe is said to fall between €749 and €799. It is not yet clear whether that pricing refers to the standard package or a Creator Combo bundle. Either way, it would represent a noticeable increase over the expected €499 starting price of the regular DJI Osmo Pocket 4.

That pricing strategy would make sense if DJI plans to separate the lineup more clearly. The standard Osmo Pocket 4 could remain the better choice for enthusiasts and everyday creators, offering a 1-inch sensor and strong 4K video features at a more accessible price. The Osmo Pocket 4P, meanwhile, would be positioned as the premium option for users who want dual cameras, optical zoom, higher-end color performance and more professional video tools.

DJI may also be preparing for tougher competition in the premium pocket gimbal camera market. The upcoming Insta360 Luna Ultra is expected to challenge DJI with AI tracking features and a modular design approach. If those rumors prove accurate, creators shopping for a high-end compact camera may soon have more choices than ever.

For now, the DJI Osmo Pocket 4P remains unofficial, and the leaked specifications should be treated with caution until DJI confirms the final details. Still, if the current information is accurate, the Pocket 4P could become one of the most exciting compact cameras of the year, combining a 1-inch variable-aperture main camera, a 48MP telephoto lens, 6K/60fps recording, 4K/240fps slow motion and professional-grade dynamic range in a pocket-sized gimbal body.

An official announcement is expected within the next few weeks, and many creators will be watching closely to see whether DJI can truly turn the Osmo Pocket series into a compact cinema camera platform.
