Dell is reportedly preparing a much more affordable version of its popular XPS 13, and it could be one of the most interesting thin-and-light laptops for students, professionals, and everyday users who want premium features without paying premium prices.
The upcoming Dell XPS 13 is expected to start at just $599, a major drop compared to current XPS 13 models that begin at around $1,199. That lower price could make the XPS lineup far more accessible while still offering a sleek design, modern connectivity, and a sharp high-refresh-rate display.
A big reason behind this lower pricing is Intel’s upcoming Wildcat Lake processor lineup. These chips are designed to help laptop manufacturers build more affordable notebooks while still delivering solid day-to-day performance. Wildcat Lake succeeds Intel’s Alder Lake-N and Twin Lake series, bringing more cores and a higher power range for better multitasking and improved overall responsiveness.
The entry-level Dell XPS 13 is expected to feature the Intel Core 5 320 processor. Higher-end configurations may go up to the Core Ultra 7 355, which is based on Intel’s Panther Lake family. Both options are expected to use Intel’s Cougar Cove performance cores and Darkmont efficiency cores, helping balance speed and battery life in a compact laptop design.
The base model is said to include 8GB of RAM and 256GB of SSD storage. While that may not be ideal for heavy creators or power users, it should be enough for web browsing, document editing, video calls, streaming, and student workloads.
