Dell Pro Precision 5 Series 16S Debuts With AMD and Intel Options, PCIe Gen 5 Storage, and 16-Inch Displays
Dell has expanded its professional laptop lineup with the new Pro Precision 5 Series 16S, a 16-inch mobile workstation designed for users who need strong productivity performance, modern storage speeds, and flexible processor choices. The laptop is available with either AMD Ryzen or Intel processor configurations, giving buyers more freedom to choose the platform that best fits their workflow and budget.
One of the key highlights of the Dell Pro Precision 5 Series 16S is support for PCIe Gen 5 storage. This newer storage standard is built for faster data transfer speeds, which can be useful for demanding tasks such as large file handling, creative workloads, software development, and multitasking across professional applications.
Battery options include 57 Wh and 70 Wh capacities, allowing customers to choose between a lighter configuration or a longer-lasting setup. For business users, students, creators, and professionals who spend long hours away from a desk, the larger battery option could make the laptop more practical for daily use.
Display choices are currently focused on IPS panels with either 1200p or 1600p resolution. Many of these display options offer up to 500 nits of peak brightness in SDR mode and cover 100% of the sRGB color space, making them suitable for general productivity, office work, web design, and color-conscious tasks. However, all current display configurations are limited to a 60 Hz refresh rate.
A 120 Hz display option is expected to arrive later, which should make the laptop more appealing to users who prefer smoother scrolling, improved responsiveness, and a more fluid viewing experience. This could be especially useful for professionals who work with visual content or simply want a more premium display experience.
Pricing for the Dell Pro Precision 5 Series 16S varies depending on the processor platform and region. In the United States, the laptop starts at $2,415 with Intel processors, while AMD-based models begin at $2,201. In the United Kingdom, AMD configurations start at £1,658, while Intel versions cost around £100 more. In the Eurozone, Intel models also carry roughly a €100 premium, with starting prices around €1,986.
Overall, the Dell Pro Precision 5 Series 16S is positioned as a capable 16-inch professional laptop with modern storage, multiple battery choices, and a display setup aimed at productivity-focused users. While the current 60 Hz display limitation may disappoint some buyers, the expected arrival of a 120 Hz panel could make the laptop a more competitive option for those seeking a powerful and refined workstation-class notebook.
