Colorful has unveiled a new budget-friendly ultraportable laptop in China called the Colorful E14, aiming to attract buyers who want a slim 14-inch notebook with stronger-than-basic performance at a competitive price.
Unlike many newer lightweight laptops that rely on entry-level Intel chips, the Colorful E14 uses an Intel Core i5-13420H processor from the Raptor Lake-H family. This is an 8-core CPU designed to deliver better everyday performance than many low-power budget laptop processors, making it a more capable option for multitasking, office work, web browsing, online classes, media streaming, and light creative workloads.
While the processor is one of the highlights of the E14, its integrated graphics are still fairly modest. The built-in GPU should be enough for basic graphics tasks, video playback, and casual use, but this is not a laptop aimed at serious gaming or heavy GPU-based workloads.
Colorful pairs the Core i5-13420H with 16GB of RAM. The company has not revealed the full memory specifications, but because this laptop is based on a Raptor Lake-H platform, there is a possibility that the RAM may be upgradeable. If confirmed, that would make the E14 more appealing to users who want a laptop that can remain useful for longer.
The design is another major selling point. The Colorful E14 features a sleek chassis measuring 16.5mm thick and weighing just 1.11kg, or about 2.44lbs. That makes it very portable for a 14-inch laptop and suitable for students, office workers, and frequent travelers who need something light enough to carry daily.
The display is a 14-inch panel with a 2.2K resolution, which should offer sharper visuals than standard Full HD screens. Colorful also claims 100% sRGB color coverage, making the screen suitable for general content creation, photo viewing, document editing, and entertainment. Brightness is rated at 300 nits, which should be fine for indoor use, though it may not be ideal for very bright outdoor environments.
Colorful has also included a practical selection of ports, which is useful for buyers who do not want to rely heavily on adapters. The E14 comes with one USB 2.0 Type-A port, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, one HDMI 1.4 port, one USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C port with power delivery support, one USB 2.0 Type-C port, and a 3.5mm audio combo jack.
In China, the base Colorful E14 configuration includes a 512GB SSD and is priced at CNY 4,299, which is approximately $640. That positions it as an affordable 14-inch laptop with a stronger processor than many thin-and-light models in the same category.
Colorful already has a presence in the global PC hardware market, but the company has not yet confirmed whether the E14 will be released internationally. If it does launch outside China, it could become an interesting option for buyers looking for a lightweight laptop with a sharp display, a capable Intel Core i5 processor, 16GB of RAM, and a reasonable price.
