MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro benchmark leak points to major CPU gains ahead of launch
MediaTek’s next flagship mobile chipset, the Dimensity 9600 Pro, is shaping up to be a serious contender in the premium Android smartphone race. Expected to launch later this month, the new processor is set to compete against upcoming high-end chips from Apple and Qualcomm, including the A20 Pro and Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6.
The Dimensity 9600 Pro has now appeared again in a Geekbench listing, this time showing a dramatic improvement over an earlier benchmark result. Spotted inside the Vivo X500 Pro Max, the chipset carries the model number MT6995 and posted a single-core score of 4,137 along with a multi-core score of 12,751.
Those numbers are a major jump compared to a previous listing for the same chip, where it recorded 2,653 in single-core testing and 7,516 in multi-core performance. If this newer result reflects final or near-final hardware, the Dimensity 9600 Pro could deliver roughly 30% better CPU performance than the Dimensity 9500.
That would put MediaTek in a much stronger position in the flagship smartphone market, especially as brands such as Vivo and Oppo are expected to adopt the new platform quickly for their next premium devices.
The Geekbench entry also gives another look at the Dimensity 9600 Pro’s CPU layout. The chip appears to feature three cores clocked at 3.10 GHz, three faster cores running at 4.35 GHz, and two top-tier performance cores reaching 4.55 GHz. This configuration matches earlier benchmark information, suggesting MediaTek may have finalized the core structure.
On the graphics side, the chipset is listed with an ARM Mali-G2-Ultra-NX MC12 GPU. The tested Vivo X500 Pro Max unit also includes 16 GB of RAM, which is typical for a high-end Android flagship targeting power users, mobile gamers, and heavy multitaskers.
As always with early benchmark results, real-world performance may vary depending on software optimization, thermal limits, and whether the test device was running final firmware. Still, the latest Geekbench score makes the Dimensity 9600 Pro look like one of the most exciting flagship smartphone chips of the year.
With Qualcomm, Apple, and MediaTek all preparing next-generation processors, the premium mobile chipset battle is about to heat up. If the Dimensity 9600 Pro can maintain this level of performance in retail devices, upcoming Vivo and Oppo flagship phones could offer a powerful alternative to other top-tier smartphones launching later this year.
