Colorful Says Its X3D AI Turbo Could Lift Ryzen X3D Gaming Performance by Around 8%

Colorful is rolling out a new one-click performance feature aimed squarely at AMD’s Ryzen X3D gaming chips, and the company claims it can deliver a meaningful FPS uplift with almost no manual tuning required.

Dubbed X3D AI High Frame Mode (also referred to as X3D AI Turbo), the feature is designed to help users squeeze extra gaming performance out of CPUs like the Ryzen 7 9800X3D and the newly launched Ryzen 7 9850X3D. With the 9850X3D setting a fresh high bar for gaming benchmarks and the 9800X3D still delivering nearly identical real-world gaming results, the timing makes sense—especially since a large number of gamers already have the 9800X3D in their systems and want an easy way to push it further.

Instead of spending hours experimenting with settings, X3D AI Turbo applies preset tuning profiles built specifically for Ryzen X3D processors. Colorful’s approach focuses on automated Precision Boost Overdrive (PBO) and frequency-related tuning, with the “AI” element used to select an appropriate profile for your specific chip. The tool is integrated directly into the motherboard BIOS, and Colorful says an Auto Select mechanism evaluates CPU quality and then chooses the best-matching performance profile automatically.

At launch, X3D AI Turbo is limited to just two CPU models: the Ryzen 7 9800X3D and Ryzen 7 9850X3D. Colorful has previously offered similar tuning-style features that worked more broadly, but this release is specifically positioned as an X3D-focused enhancement.

In Colorful’s internal testing, the numbers look promising for competitive gaming. When pairing a Ryzen 7 9850X3D with a GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, the company reports that Valorant saw an 8.3% increase in average FPS with X3D AI Turbo enabled. Even more notably, 1% low FPS—often a better indicator of smoothness and reduced stutter—reportedly improved by 16.4%.

As always with automatic tuning utilities, actual results will vary depending on the game, GPU, memory configuration, cooling, and the individual silicon quality of your processor. Still, the focus on improving both average frame rates and 1% lows will likely appeal to esports players and high-refresh-rate gamers looking for a quick, low-effort performance bump.

For now, support is limited to two Colorful 800-series ARK motherboards: the CVN B850M ARK Frozen and the CVN X870E ARK Frozen.
