Citizen has added a fresh new entry to its Marvel watch lineup, and this time the spotlight is on the X-Men. The brand’s latest release is a stealthy, comic-inspired timepiece that leans into subtle franchise details while keeping the overall look clean and wearable. It also packs Citizen’s fan-favorite Eco-Drive technology, meaning it runs on light and doesn’t require regular battery replacements.
The new model, officially labeled Citizen AW5007-17W, recently surfaced online and is now officially available. It joins a wider Citizen x Marvel collection that spans a variety of character-inspired designs, from street-ready superhero themes to more collector-focused releases. Compared with louder, more graphic superhero editions, this X-Men watch takes a more understated approach that still feels instantly recognizable to fans.
At first glance, the dial is the star. The watch uses a double-layered black dial design, with a large silver “X” centered inside a silver ring, creating a bold focal point without cluttering the face. Look closer and you’ll notice subtle nods to the X-Men’s classic teams: blue accents highlight the 12 o’clock and 6 o’clock markers, while gold accents appear at 3 o’clock and 9 o’clock. It’s a smart, low-key way to work in the Blue Team and Gold Team colors without turning the watch into a costume piece.
The case is a silver-tone stainless steel build measuring 42.3mm, paired with a single-crown layout. Up top, Citizen uses an impact-resistant spherical mineral crystal that sits slightly raised above the bezel, adding a bit of depth while helping protect the dial. On the wrist, the watch comes on a textured black leather strap with yellow edging for a subtle pop of contrast, and the caseback is finished with an etched X-Men logo. Citizen also includes special Citizen x Marvel-themed packaging, which adds to the collector appeal.
Powering the AW5007-17W is Citizen’s J810 Eco-Drive movement, designed to recharge from ambient light sources—sunlight, indoor lighting, and whatever else you encounter day to day. For anyone who prefers a grab-and-go watch, Eco-Drive is a major perk because it cuts down on battery swaps and routine maintenance.
In terms of durability, the watch is described as offering basic splash resistance, although an exact water-resistance rating isn’t specified in the official listing. The total weight comes in at 85 grams, keeping it relatively light for a steel-cased watch on leather.
Pricing is set at $375, and the Citizen X-Men AW5007-17W is currently available in the US through Citizen’s online store. Availability on other storefronts has been inconsistent so far, and while it’s US-focused at launch, a wider release in additional regions may follow.
