Citizen Unveils a Striking Spider-Man Eco-Drive Watch With Glow-in-the-Dark Comic Art
Citizen has introduced a new Spider-Man-themed Eco-Drive watch, and this one leans heavily into comic book drama. The Citizen AW1437-61W brings Marvel’s famous web-slinger to the dial with a bold city-swinging illustration that transforms when the lights go out.
In daylight, the watch features Spider-Man in full color, swinging across a city skyline in a vibrant comic-inspired scene. But the real surprise appears in the dark. The dial shifts into a glowing green outline, with Spider-Man’s silhouette and eyes taking on a more intense, shadowy look against the black background. It is a clever use of lume that gives the watch a strong visual identity and makes it stand out from many character-themed timepieces.
The AW1437-61W comes in a 43 mm black ion-plated stainless steel case, giving it a sleek and slightly stealthy appearance. Inside is Citizen’s J810 Eco-Drive movement, which means the watch is powered by light and does not require regular battery changes. It also offers 100 meters of water resistance and uses a mineral crystal.
Citizen has added several collector-friendly details as well. The watch will ship in Marvel-branded packaging and includes a Spider-Man pin featuring the same artwork seen on the dial. The caseback is engraved with “THWIP,” the classic comic book sound effect associated with Spider-Man’s web-shooting, along with Marvel branding.
Citizen’s partnership with Marvel began in 2018, when the brand launched watches inspired by popular characters including Spider-Man, Black Panther, Captain America, and the Hulk. Since then, Spider-Man has become one of the most frequently revisited heroes in Citizen’s Marvel watch collection. Previous designs have ranged from vintage comic panel styles to sportier models using Spider-Man’s familiar red-and-blue color scheme.
The new AW1437-61W takes a different direction. Rather than simply using superhero colors or small logo details, it turns the entire dial into a comic book scene. The glow-in-the-dark effect adds another layer of personality, making it feel more like wearable artwork than a standard character-branded accessory.
Citizen lists the Spider-Man AW1437-61W as a Fall 2026 release. Official pricing has not yet been confirmed, but similar Citizen Marvel Eco-Drive watches have typically been priced in the $250 to $350 range. For Spider-Man fans, comic collectors, and watch enthusiasts looking for something playful but functional, this could become one of the more memorable Marvel-themed Citizen releases.
