Citizen Unveils a Bold New Blue Eco-Drive Chronograph Powered by Caliber B620

Citizen has expanded its popular Eco-Drive lineup with a fresh addition to the Chrono Racing series: the Citizen CA4716-50L. Designed with a clear nod to motorsport chronographs, this new model blends a sporty look with the everyday convenience of solar-powered timekeeping, and it arrives in a more wearable case size than many racing-inspired competitors.

The CA4716-50L comes in a 39.5 mm stainless steel case with a thickness of 12.3 mm, giving it a balanced, mid-sized profile that should suit a wider range of wrists. That sizing also makes it easier to wear daily, especially compared to the larger, more oversized chronographs often associated with aviation and racing themes.

Where this watch really stands out is its dial. Citizen uses a deep blue base with vertical striping, creating a textured, track-ready feel without becoming overly loud. A classic three-sub-dial layout reinforces the chronograph identity, while keeping the face organized and readable.

Powering the Citizen CA4716-50L is the brand’s Caliber B620 Eco-Drive movement. This light-powered solar-quartz caliber can charge from both natural and artificial light, helping eliminate routine battery changes. On a full charge, it’s rated for roughly a 9-month power reserve under normal use. Function-wise, the movement includes a 1/5-second chronograph that measures up to 60 minutes, a 24-hour sub-dial for AM/PM indication, and a neatly placed date window between the 4 and 5 o’clock markers. Citizen also builds in practical safeguards like an insufficient charge warning and overcharge prevention, which are especially useful for owners who rotate watches.

The crystal is mineral glass, a choice that typically offers solid impact resistance, though it can be more prone to scratches over time than sapphire. For daily wear, commuting, and general use, it’s a reasonable match for the watch’s price range, but it’s something to keep in mind if you’re hard on your watches.

For versatility, the CA4716-50L is rated to 10 ATM (100 meters) of water resistance. That makes it suitable for swimming and other surface water activities, adding to its appeal as a “one watch” option for people who want a sporty chronograph that can keep up with everyday life. The watch is completed with a matching stainless steel bracelet and a secure clasp for a cohesive, durable feel on the wrist.

In terms of pricing, the Citizen CA4716-50L is listed at €219 in the EU, while in Singapore it’s priced at S$523.20 (around $411 USD). With its solar-powered Eco-Drive movement, racing chronograph styling, and practical water resistance, it positions itself as an accessible, feature-packed option for anyone shopping for a stainless steel chronograph with a standout blue dial.
