Citizen has expanded its affordable racing chronograph collection with a fresh new model that blends motorsport-inspired styling with an unexpected compass-themed design. The Citizen Racing Chronograph CA4722-06L stands out with a blue sunray dial, gold-tone stainless steel case, black leather strap, and the brand’s reliable Eco-Drive movement.
Following the recent arrival of panda and reverse-panda chronograph designs, this new CA4722-06L adds a more vibrant option to Citizen’s CA472xx series. It keeps the same practical 42mm case size and solar-powered B620-00Z Eco-Drive caliber, but gives the watch a more eye-catching personality through its polished gold-tone finish and deep blue dial.
One of the most noticeable details is the chapter ring. Instead of using the traditional tachymeter scale often found on racing chronographs, Citizen has fitted this model with a compass-inspired ring marked with cardinal directions and degree indicators. This gives the watch a slightly adventurous feel while still preserving its sporty chronograph character.
The blue sunray dial is designed to shift in tone depending on the light, adding depth and movement to the overall look. Gold-tone applied hour markers and faceted hands match the case, while luminous material improves readability in low-light conditions. The contrast between the blue dial, black subdials, and gold accents gives the watch a polished yet energetic appearance.
A red central chronograph seconds hand with an arrow-shaped tip adds another splash of color and reinforces the watch’s dynamic styling. The dial layout includes three black subdials: a 24-hour display, a running seconds display with battery charge indicator, and a 60-minute chronograph counter. The watch also includes 100 meters of water resistance, making it suitable for everyday wear and light water exposure. A mineral crystal protects the dial, while the chronograph, date, 12/24-hour time display, and battery discharge indicator add practical functionality.
