Citizen CA4714-55A Eco-Drive Chronograph Arrives in the UK With a Silver Dial and Racing-Inspired Style
Citizen has quietly introduced a new Eco-Drive chronograph in the UK, adding a fresh silver-tone option to its CA4714 lineup. The new Citizen CA4714-55A is listed at £369 and brings together a stainless-steel case, black tachymeter bezel, red chronograph accents, and the brand’s dependable light-powered movement.
Positioned as part of Citizen’s Classic collection, the CA4714-55A is described as a Racing Chronograph, and the design makes that influence clear. The black tachymeter bezel gives the watch a motorsport-inspired edge, while the bright red chronograph seconds hand adds a sporty flash against the clean silver dial. Matching red details on the pushers help tie the design together without making it feel too busy.
The dial follows a familiar and practical chronograph layout. Three sub-dials are arranged across the face, while a date window sits neatly between the 4 and 5 o’clock positions. It is a classic setup for an everyday chronograph, offering useful timing features while keeping the watch easy to read.
The watch is built with a stainless-steel case measuring 39.9 mm wide and 12.3 mm thick. Citizen’s UK specification panel lists it as 39 mm, but the official measurement appears to be just under 40 mm, making it a versatile size for many wrists. It is large enough to feel sporty, yet still restrained compared with oversized chronographs.
The CA4714-55A also features a mineral crystal, a screw-down case back, and 100 meters of water resistance. That makes it suitable for daily wear, light swimming, and general active use, though it is not positioned as a dedicated dive watch.
Power comes from Citizen’s B620 Eco-Drive calibre, one of the key selling points of the model. Eco-Drive technology allows the watch to charge using light, removing the need for regular battery replacements. On a full charge, the movement can run for up to 270 days, which is a strong advantage for anyone who rotates between several watches.
In terms of accuracy, the B620 movement is rated to ±15 seconds per month. The chronograph can measure up to 60 minutes in 1/5-second increments, and the watch also includes a 24-hour sub-dial and a battery discharge indicator.
What makes the CA4714-55A especially interesting is its availability. Citizen previously introduced other CA4714 models in Europe, including versions with cream and black dials on leather straps or bracelets. However, this silver-tone variant currently appears to be listed only through Citizen’s UK site, making it a more unusual option within the range.
The price may raise some eyebrows. At £369, the new silver-dial model is notably more expensive than the black-dial CA4714-55E, which launched in Europe earlier at €269. Once taxes are removed from both prices, the UK model works out significantly higher. Even so, the combination of a stainless-steel bracelet, Eco-Drive movement, 100-meter water resistance, and racing-style chronograph design may still appeal to buyers looking for a reliable everyday sports watch from Citizen.
Overall, the Citizen CA4714-55A offers a balanced mix of classic chronograph styling and modern convenience. Its silver dial gives it a sharper, more versatile look than the darker variants, while the black tachymeter bezel and red accents add just enough personality. For UK watch buyers searching for a solar-powered chronograph with a clean motorsport feel, this new Citizen Eco-Drive model is worth a closer look.
