Sugon N50 Pro “Thread Beast” Laptop Debuts With a 64-Thread Mobile CPU and 16GB GPU for AI Workloads
Sugon has introduced the N50 Pro, a high-end laptop from China that the company is calling the “Thread Beast.” The name is not just marketing flair: the machine is being promoted as the first laptop to feature a 64-thread mobile CPU, doubling the thread count commonly found in today’s fastest performance notebooks.
The Sugon N50 Pro is aimed at AI developers, engineers, researchers, and professional users who need workstation-class performance in a portable design. While most premium laptops top out at 32 threads, Sugon is pushing the category further with a processor configuration designed for demanding parallel workloads, simulations, content creation, and local AI processing.
Sugon has not officially confirmed the exact CPU model inside the N50 Pro. However, based on the specifications, it is likely tied to Hygon’s newer C86 processor family. The company claims the chip can reach a single-thread boost clock of up to 4.30 GHz. In one performance example, Sugon says the laptop can reduce a fluid dynamics simulation workload from 2.4 hours to just 1 hour, highlighting its focus on professional compute tasks.
Another major highlight is the dedicated graphics processor. The N50 Pro includes a GPU with 16GB of dedicated VRAM, making it suitable for AI acceleration, large language model workloads, rendering, and other GPU-heavy applications. Sugon says the GPU runs at a base frequency of 3.3 GHz and can handle AI LLM tasks efficiently. In one example, the laptop reportedly runs a 35B MoE model at more than 50 tokens per second.
Memory and storage are also positioned for heavy workloads. The Sugon N50 Pro supports up to 128GB of expandable memory, suggesting the use of upgradeable laptop memory rather than soldered-only modules. Storage can also be upgraded to as much as 8TB, giving professionals enough room for datasets, project files, AI models, simulations, and media production assets.
The display is another premium feature. The laptop comes with a 4K panel, a 120Hz refresh rate, a 93% screen-to-body ratio, and professional-grade color accuracy rated at ΔE <1. That makes it appealing not only for technical users but also for creators working with visual content, video, design, or color-sensitive applications.
Despite the powerful hardware, Sugon is presenting the N50 Pro as a slim and premium machine. The laptop measures 16.9mm thick and weighs 1.69kg, which is relatively portable for a device targeting workstation and AI performance. Connectivity includes two USB Type-C ports, three USB Type-A ports, HDMI, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a charging dock interface.
Sugon has not yet announced pricing, launch timing, or full configuration details for the N50 Pro. The laptop appears to be focused on the Chinese market and is expected to target the premium professional segment. Given its 64-thread CPU, 16GB dedicated GPU, 4K 120Hz screen, and large memory capacity, the N50 Pro could become one of the most interesting performance laptops for AI and workstation users in China.
