The company is positioning the device as a serious machine for engineers, designers, creators, and professionals who rely on demanding workloads such as CAD, simulation, rendering, and computational modeling.

The standout feature is the processor. Sugon claims the N50 Pro is the world’s first mobile workstation in its category to offer 64 CPU threads. The company has not officially named the chip inside the laptop, which makes the hardware especially interesting. However, the available details suggest that the processor may use four-way simultaneous multithreading, also known as SMT4.

If that is accurate, the CPU would likely use a 16-core, 64-thread design instead of the more common 32-core setup normally needed to reach 64 threads with traditional SMT2 technology. This points toward a powerful Chinese x86 processor, with Hygon being one of the possible candidates. Previous listings have shown a Hygon 3490H processor with 16 cores and 64 threads, while another Hygon 3490 variant has appeared with 16 cores and 32 threads. Still, Sugon has not confirmed whether the N50 Pro uses either of these chips.

Another possibility is that the laptop uses a processor related to Hygon’s newer C86-5G platform, which is also known to support SMT4. For now, the exact CPU remains one of the biggest mysteries surrounding the N50 Pro.

Sugon says the processor can reach up to 4.3 GHz in single-threaded workloads. That clock speed, combined with the claimed 64-thread capability, could make the N50 Pro a compelling option for professionals who need strong multi-core performance without moving to a bulky desktop workstation.

The company has also shared an example of the laptop’s potential performance in engineering workloads. According to Sugon, the N50 Pro can reduce the processing time of a computational fluid dynamics project larger than 40 GB from around 2.4 hours to roughly one hour. The company has not disclosed the exact software or test conditions behind this claim, so real-world performance will still need independent confirmation.

The memory and storage options are equally workstation-focused. The Sugon N50 Pro can be configured with up to 128 GB of RAM and up to 8 TB of storage. Those specifications place it firmly in professional laptop territory, especially for users working with large models, complex simulations, massive design files, or high-resolution media projects.

The graphics hardware is another unanswered question. Sugon has confirmed that the N50 Pro includes a discrete GPU with 16 GB of dedicated video memory and a clock speed of up to 3.3 GHz. However, the company has not revealed the manufacturer or exact model.

There are several possible domestic GPU suppliers in China, including companies developing graphics solutions for professional and mobile workstations. Some recent Chinese mobile workstations have paired local processors with domestic discrete GPUs, and the N50 Pro may follow a similar path. Still, none of the publicly known GPU models perfectly match the specifications Sugon has revealed so far.

The display is one of the clearest highlights of the device. The N50 Pro features a 4K screen with a 120 Hz refresh rate, making it suitable for both detailed professional work and smooth visual performance. Sugon also claims the panel offers a 93% screen-to-body ratio and a Delta E value below 1, which suggests strong color accuracy for workloads such as visual design, content creation, 3D modeling, and color-critical production tasks.

Connectivity also appears to be a major focus. Sugon says the N50 Pro includes nine interfaces, supports multi-display 4K output, and enables “10-gigabit-class” data transfers. The company also mentions a hidden-port design intended to reduce the need for external dongles, although the complete port layout has not yet been revealed.

Perhaps the most surprising part of the N50 Pro is its size. Despite being marketed as a mobile workstation, Sugon claims the laptop is only 16.9 mm thick and weighs as little as 1.69 kg. If those figures hold true for commercial configurations, the N50 Pro could be one of the more portable high-performance workstation laptops on the market.

Sugon has not announced pricing or a release date yet. The final appeal of the N50 Pro will depend heavily on the confirmed CPU, GPU, thermal performance, battery life, and software compatibility. Still, based on the early specifications, this laptop could become an important showcase for China’s growing push into powerful domestic workstation hardware.
