Casio has officially introduced two new G-Shock G-Steel watches, the GST-B1000-1A and GST-B1000-2A, giving the recently released full-metal GST-B1000 lineup a lighter, sportier twist. The biggest change is immediately noticeable: instead of a stainless steel bracelet, these new models use a resin strap designed for everyday comfort and a more casual fit.
The new Casio G-Shock GST-B1000-1A and GST-B1000-2A are launching first in Japan with a price of ¥60,500, which is roughly $384 depending on exchange rates. A wider international release has not been confirmed yet, but these models are expected to reach more markets soon.
While the design is more relaxed than the full-metal versions, Casio has kept the core G-Shock formula intact. These watches still offer rugged durability, solar charging, Bluetooth smartphone connectivity, and 200-meter water resistance. That makes them a strong option for buyers who want the premium G-Steel look without the heavier feel of a metal bracelet.
The lighter resin band makes a major difference in weight. The GST-B1000-1A and GST-B1000-2A weigh just 58 grams, compared with 118 grams for the full-metal GST-B1000BD models. That nearly 50% reduction should make the new versions much more comfortable for daily wear, workouts, travel, and long hours on the wrist.
Casio has kept the same case dimensions as the metal-band models, measuring 46.9 × 44.2 × 11.6 mm. The case uses carbon fiber-reinforced resin with a stainless steel bezel, supported by Casio’s Carbon Core Guard Structure for shock resistance. The result is a slimmer, modern G-Steel watch that still feels tough enough for active use.
The design blends sporty and premium elements. The minimalist bezel is protected by a metal guard, while the dial carries a brick-pattern texture inspired by the original G-Shock DW-5000C. The GST-B1000-1A comes with a black look, while the GST-B1000-2A features a dark metallic blue dial, matching the blue tone used on the full-metal version.
Inside, both watches are powered by Casio’s Tough Solar technology. This means the battery can recharge using sunlight or indoor light, reducing the need for regular battery replacements. With normal use, the watch can run for up to five months on a full charge. In power-saving mode, battery life can extend up to 18 months.
Bluetooth connectivity is another key feature. When paired with the Casio Watches smartphone app, the GST-B1000 models can automatically correct the time, making them more convenient for travel and everyday accuracy. The app also allows easier clock settings, access to Time & Place features, and a Find My Phone function.
The watch face includes a 24-hour subdial at 3 o’clock and a multifunction subdial positioned between 6 and 8 o’clock. Other useful features include a 1-second stopwatch with a 30-minute measuring capacity, a 30-minute countdown timer, a daily alarm, date and day display, battery level indicator, and a fully automatic calendar.
For visibility, Casio includes Neobrite hands and markers along with a Super Illuminator white LED light with afterglow. The watches also use mineral glass and a screw-lock crown, adding to their durability and practical everyday appeal.
The Casio G-Shock GST-B1000-1A and GST-B1000-2A appear to be aimed at users who like the refined look of the G-Steel range but prefer a lighter, more flexible strap.
