Casio has expanded its G-Shock G-Steel lineup with two new all-black metal watches that blend rugged durability with a cleaner, more refined style. The new Casio G-Shock GST-B1000BD-1A and GST-B1000BD-2A are designed as versatile everyday watches, offering a premium stainless steel look, solar charging, Bluetooth smartphone connectivity, and classic G-Shock toughness.
Both models feature a dark ion-plated stainless steel bezel and bracelet, giving the watches a stealthy, modern appearance. The main difference between the two versions is the dial color. The GST-B1000BD-1A comes with a black textured dial for a fully monochrome look, while the GST-B1000BD-2A adds a deep blue dial that gives the watch a slightly more distinctive finish.
Casio appears to be taking a more minimalist direction with these new G-Steel models. Unlike many traditional G-Shock watches that emphasize bold branding and oversized styling, the GST-B1000BD series keeps things cleaner with a logo-free bezel and a more polished metal design. The bezel’s dark finish changes subtly depending on the lighting, while the stainless steel bracelet combines hairline and mirror-polished surfaces for a more premium feel.
The dial design adds personality without looking too busy. Both watches include dual sub-dials, a date display, and a textured horizontal pattern. Casio has also added a brick-inspired motif as a subtle tribute to the original G-Shock DW-5000C, giving the watch a sporty connection to the brand’s history.
Despite the metal exterior, the GST-B1000BD remains relatively wearable. The case measures 46.9 × 44.2 × 11.6 mm and weighs 118 grams. Inside, the watch uses a carbon fiber-reinforced resin case structure made with biomass plastic, helping protect the module while keeping the overall design lighter and more comfortable on the wrist.
Durability is still a major part of the package. The watches include G-Shock’s shock-resistant construction, Carbon Core Guard structure, mineral glass, a screw-lock crown, and 200-meter water resistance. That means they are built for daily wear, travel, outdoor use, and active lifestyles, while still looking sharp enough for more formal settings.
The GST-B1000BD-1A and GST-B1000BD-2A also come equipped with Casio’s Tough Solar charging system. On a full charge, the watches can run for around five months with normal use. When power-saving mode is enabled, battery life can extend to approximately 18 months.
Bluetooth connectivity is another key feature. When paired with a smartphone through the Casio Watches app, the watch can automatically correct the time, simplify clock settings, record time and place data, and help locate your phone using the Find My Phone function. These smart features make the watch more convenient without turning it into a full smartwatch.
Other practical functions include a stopwatch, countdown timer, daily alarm, automatic calendar, battery level warning, day-of-week display, date display, Neobrite luminous treatment, and a Super Illuminator LED light with afterglow. If the watch is not connected to a smartphone, it maintains an accuracy of approximately ±15 seconds per month.
The stainless steel bracelet also gets a useful upgrade with a one-push tri-fold clasp, designed to make wearing and removing the watch easier. The bracelet fits wrists from 150 mm to 205 mm.
The Casio G-Shock GST-B1000BD-1A and GST-B1000BD-2A are launching first in Japan, with pre-orders priced at ¥75,900. A wider release in international markets, including the United States and Europe, is expected to follow soon.
Key specifications include a 46.9 × 44.2 × 11.6 mm case, 118 g weight, carbon fiber-reinforced resin and stainless steel construction, black ion-plated bezel and bracelet, 200-meter water resistance, Tough Solar power, Bluetooth smartphone connectivity, Super Illuminator LED light, mineral glass, screw-lock crown, stopwatch, countdown timer, daily alarm, automatic calendar, power-saving mode, and up to 18 months of operation in power-saving mode.
With its sleek all-black metal design, practical solar-powered movement, Bluetooth features, and G-Shock durability, the GST-B1000BD series is positioned as a strong option for anyone looking for a rugged watch that can move easily between casual, professional, and outdoor settings.
