Casio G-Steel GST-B1000BD Watches Arrive in the US With Sleek All-Black Design and Solar Power
Casio has expanded its G-Shock G-Steel lineup in the United States with the arrival of the GST-B1000BD series. The new GSTB1000BD-1A and GSTB1000BD-2A are now available for $510 each, bringing a more polished, stealthy look to one of Casio’s most refined metal G-Shock designs.
Both watches take the GST-B1000 formula and give it a premium all-black finish. Casio has used black ion plating across nearly every visible metal part, including the bezel, bracelet, side buttons, screw-lock crown, clasp, and exterior screws. The result is a clean, unified appearance that feels more understated than many traditional G-Shock models while still keeping the rugged identity the brand is known for.
One of the most noticeable design choices is the logo-free bezel. Instead of heavy branding, the bezel keeps things minimal and changes subtly depending on how light hits the surface. Combined with the stainless steel bracelet, which uses both hairline and mirror finishing, the watch has a more dress-oriented feel without losing its tough sports-watch character.
The GSTB1000BD-1A features a fully black dial for a stealthy monochrome look, while the GSTB1000BD-2A adds a deep blue textured dial for a slightly more eye-catching style. Both versions use a brick-pattern dial inspired by the original DW-5000C, the first G-Shock released in 1983. It is a subtle nod to Casio’s history while keeping the overall design modern.
Despite the metal exterior, Casio has kept the watch relatively slim. The case measures 46.9 x 44.2 x 11.6 mm and weighs 118 g. That makes it thinner than some other full-metal G-Shock models, giving it a more comfortable profile for everyday wear.
Inside, the GST-B1000BD series uses a bio-based carbon-reinforced resin core, protected by the stainless steel exterior. This construction helps maintain durability while keeping the watch lighter than a fully solid metal build.
The feature set is practical and familiar for G-Shock fans. Both models include Tough Solar charging, meaning the watch can run using light as its power source. Bluetooth connectivity allows automatic time adjustment through the Casio Watches app, making it easier to keep accurate time while traveling or switching time zones.
Other key features include 20-bar water resistance, a stopwatch, countdown timer, alarm, and Super Illuminator LED light for improved visibility in the dark. These functions make the watches suitable for daily use, travel, office wear, and outdoor activities.
With the GSTB1000BD-1A and GSTB1000BD-2A, Casio is clearly aiming at buyers who want the durability of a G-Shock but prefer a more mature, minimalist design. The all-black ion-plated finish, slim stainless steel case, solar power, Bluetooth time sync, and heritage-inspired dial make this one of the most stylish G-Steel releases currently available in the US.
