Casio Teases Comic-Book-Inspired G‑Shock Watches Ahead of Imminent Launch

Casio is about to drop two fresh, comic book-inspired G-Shock collaborations with artist Joshua Vides, and the designs have now surfaced after days of teasing on social media. The upcoming models are the DW-5600JV-7 and the DW-6900JV-1, both styled to look like they’ve been sketched by hand with bold, pen-like outlines and playful graphic accents.

The Casio G-Shock DW-5600JV-7 sticks to the brand’s classic rectangular digital shape. It comes in a clean white resin case and matching strap, decorated with black detailing that mimics inked linework—giving the watch a striking “drawn-on” look that feels straight out of a comic panel.

If you prefer the iconic round G-Shock silhouette, the DW-6900JV-1 goes in the opposite direction with a black resin case and strap. Instead of black outlines on white, this one flips the vibe with white pen-stroke accents over the darker base, creating a high-contrast design that still delivers the same illustrated, comic-inspired effect.

Despite the artistic exterior, these are still full-on G-Shock watches built for everyday wear. Both models feature a light background digital display with darker digits for clear readability. They also include an LED backlight—and there’s a fun hidden touch here, as the illumination reveals an image of a traffic cone.

In terms of functionality, Casio is keeping the feature set familiar and practical. You’re getting a 1/100th second stopwatch, hourly time signals, a multifunction alarm, and a countdown timer. They’re also water resistant to 200 meters, and include a fully automatic calendar that runs all the way through the year 2099, making them as dependable as they are stylish.

Release is set for the US on March 14th, but pricing hasn’t been confirmed yet. Details about a wider launch, including possible availability in European markets like Germany, are still unclear for now.
