Casio is bringing back the comic-book look in a fresh new collaboration with artist Joshua Vides, and pricing details are now out ahead of the official rollout. The two upcoming models, the G-Shock DW-5600JV-7 and G-Shock DW-6900JV-1, are expected to retail for $180 each, pairing classic G-Shock durability with Vides’ instantly recognizable hand-drawn, pen-outlined style.
This release taps into the same kind of excitement that surrounded earlier comic-style G-Shock designs. Recent leaks hinted that a new monochrome “comic-book” collection was on the way, and that buzz was quickly followed by an official reveal from Joshua Vides on Instagram. Now, additional details have essentially confirmed the launch plan, the retail price, and a closer look at what buyers can expect.
In terms of design, both watches lean hard into the black-and-white illustrated aesthetic that makes Vides’ work stand out. The DW-5600JV-7 goes with a white resin case and strap, finished with black sketch-like lines that make it look like it’s been pulled straight from a graphic novel panel. The DW-6900JV-1 flips the concept: it uses a black base with bold white outline accents across the bezel and strap, creating a high-contrast “inked” effect.
New product images also show that Casio and Vides are treating this as a full collaboration experience, not just a dial swap. The watches are expected to ship in custom co-branded packaging featuring splatter-style graphics and the same monochrome art direction used on the watches.
The launch is set to begin with a limited-time Los Angeles pop-up event running March 14–15, open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., located at 2272 Venice Boulevard. After the pop-up, global online sales are scheduled to begin the following Monday at 9 a.m. PST through the artist’s website. There’s also mention that early visitors at the LA event may be eligible for limited promotional items, adding an extra incentive for anyone planning to attend in person.
While the exterior is all about the comic-book illusion, the functionality stays true to the proven G-Shock formula. Both models are expected to stick with the familiar DW-5600 and DW-6900 digital feature set, including a 1/100-second stopwatch, countdown timer, alarm, LED backlight, and 200-meter water resistance—making them just as practical for daily wear as they are eye-catching for collectors.
With a $180 price point, recognizable silhouettes, and a highly shareable black-and-white design, the G-Shock x Joshua Vides DW-5600JV-7 and DW-6900JV-1 are shaping up to be one of the more talked-about watch collaborations of the season—especially for fans who want something that looks like wearable art without giving up the rugged reputation G-Shock is known for.
