Casio Pro Trek PRJ-B001B-1 Debuts with Rotary Guard Bezel and Tough Solar Power

Casio’s new Pro Trek PRJ-B001B-1 has officially landed in Japan, bringing a rugged, solar-powered hiking watch to outdoor enthusiasts at an accessible price. Listed at ¥25,300 (around $169), this model blends eco-friendly materials with trail-ready durability and a slim, lightweight build that’s easy to wear all day.

The PRJ-B001B-1 uses bio-based plastics for its 50.3 × 46 × 13.6 mm case and tips the scales at just 37 grams. A cross-band in a paracord-style finish fits wrists from 145 to 215 mm and can be swapped with other bands from the Pro Trek series. The rotary guard bezel isn’t just for looks, either: a quick 45-degree twist switches the side buttons between protected and operational modes, reducing accidental presses when you’re on the move.

Built for the outdoors, the watch is water-resistant to 10 bar and engineered to operate in temperatures as low as -10°C. Power comes from Tough Solar, so you can leave the charger at home. On a full charge, the watch can run for up to seven months, or up to 18 months with power-saving mode. Bluetooth connectivity pairs with the Casio Watches app for automatic time correction, while the quartz movement maintains accuracy of ±15 seconds per month even without smartphone sync.

Despite its minimalist weight, the PRJ-B001B-1 packs plenty of functionality for hikers and travelers:
– World time for 38 cities
– Five daily alarms
– Stopwatch and countdown timer
– Double LED illumination for low-light visibility
– Full auto calendar and battery level indicator

This model is part of the Pro Trek Hiker Line and is on sale now in Japan. While it hasn’t appeared on the brand’s US site yet, broader availability is likely to follow. If you’ve been waiting for a lightweight, sustainable, and reliable adventure watch with solar power and smart timekeeping, the Pro Trek PRJ-B001B-1 is a standout option to consider.
