Xiaomi is stepping up its game in the electric vehicle market, potentially with a new addition to its lineup—an SUV dubbed the “YU9”. This new model is rumored to expand on the popular YU7 SUV, offering a larger, more accommodating vehicle with three rows of seating, perfect for up to seven passengers.
Reports suggest that the YU9 will sport a “full-sized SUV” design, boasting a taller and more squared-off appearance compared to its predecessor. It’s expected to measure around 5.3 meters (about 17.4 feet) in length, providing ample space for families and groups alike.
Leaked images circulating on Weibo hint at a vehicle that might be equipped with Xiaomi’s first-ever extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) system. This setup is believed to combine a turbo-charged 1.5-liter engine from Dong’an with an integrated all-wheel-drive system, potentially offering a combined range of up to 932 miles. On its own, the electric motor might cover approximately 124 miles per charge.
In terms of tech, the YU9 could feature a HyperOS-powered infotainment system with seamless smart-home integration, along with impressively fast 800V charging capability. This positions the YU9 as a strong contender against rivals like the Aito M9 and Li Auto L9 upon its anticipated 2026 release.
For those looking for a spacious and technologically advanced SUV, the YU9 could well be worth the wait. Stay tuned for more updates as Xiaomi continues to innovate in the EV space.
