Xiaomi HyperOS 4 Global Beta Begins: Eligible Phones, Features, and Rollout Details
Xiaomi has officially opened the HyperOS 4 beta program for global users, giving selected phone owners an early chance to try the company’s next major software upgrade. The global rollout follows the initial beta release in China, which began in mid-August 2026 with eight devices included in the first wave.
For the first global batch, Xiaomi has listed seven eligible smartphones. These models are:

Among these devices, the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Ultra, and Leica Leitzphone powered by Xiaomi are already eligible for the Android 17 beta update. The remaining four models, Xiaomi 17T, Xiaomi 17T Pro, Xiaomi 15 Ultra, and Xiaomi 15, are scheduled to receive HyperOS 4 test firmware starting September 17, 2026.
This is only the first phase of Xiaomi’s global HyperOS 4 beta rollout. More devices are expected to be added later as the company expands testing and prepares the update for a wider public release.
HyperOS 4 brings several major upgrades designed to improve both performance and everyday usability. One of the most noticeable changes is the new “Soft Light Glass” visual design, which gives the interface a cleaner and more modern look. Xiaomi is also introducing deeper home screen customization options, allowing users to personalize their phones more easily.
Performance is another major focus of HyperOS 4. Xiaomi says the update improves app loading speeds, making supported devices feel faster and more responsive. The software also includes enhanced AI-powered features, which are expected to improve system intelligence, user convenience, and overall interaction across supported devices.
Camera and media improvements are also part of the update. Xiaomi has upgraded its HDR processing algorithm, which should help deliver faster image processing and a smoother camera experience. The company also claims that the camera app will feel more responsive after the update.
Video playback is getting attention as well, with Xiaomi promising a better viewing experience and smoother overall performance. Combined with the interface changes and system-level optimizations, HyperOS 4 is shaping up to be one of Xiaomi’s most important software updates yet.
Global users who own one of the eligible devices can apply for the HyperOS 4 beta program through the Xiaomi Community app. Since this is beta software, users should expect possible bugs, performance issues, or app compatibility problems. It is recommended to back up important data before joining the program.
Xiaomi has also issued an important warning: after installing the HyperOS 4 beta through an OTA update, users may not be able to roll back to the previous software version normally. Returning to an older build may require a clean ROM flash through the phone’s bootloader, which can be a more advanced process.
With the HyperOS 4 global beta now underway, Xiaomi users outside China are getting their first real look at the company’s next-generation software experience. As testing continues, more phones are likely to join the beta program in the coming weeks.
