Xiaomi Unveils a Game-Changing Smart Upgrade for Air Conditioners

Xiaomi is rolling out a new smart feature designed to keep its air conditioners running efficiently and help users avoid the common performance issues caused by neglected maintenance. The update is currently reaching customers in China and is available through the Mi Home app, which many users outside China recognize as the Xiaomi Home app.

The new tool is called the Mi Home Air Conditioner Smart Health Check (name translated). Xiaomi says its smart air conditioners use built-in sensors to detect whether an air filter is dirty or clogged, with claimed accuracy of up to 98%. That matters because a blocked filter can restrict airflow, reduce cooling performance, make the unit work harder than it should, and potentially increase energy use over time.

Once the system detects a problem, it sends an alert directly to the Xiaomi Home app so you know it’s time to take action. Users can also check the filter status manually whenever they want, which is useful if you’re dealing with seasonal changes, dust buildup, pets, or heavy day-to-day usage.

To make maintenance easier, the Smart Health Check feature doesn’t stop at reminders. It can walk you through the cleaning process with step-by-step instructions inside the app. For customers in China, Xiaomi is also pairing the feature with an added convenience: the option to call a technician for an at-home filter cleaning service that’s offered free of charge.

Xiaomi says this Smart Health Check function is available on several of its recent models in China, including the Mi Home Air Conditioner Super Energy Saving Pro (Super Energy Efficiency Level 1) and the Mi Home Air Conditioner Ultra Energy-Saving Pro 1.5 HP.

For shoppers in Europe, Xiaomi’s smart air conditioner lineup is still limited. The company currently sells two smart air conditioner models in the region, and one of them is the Xiaomi Mijia Air Conditioner Pro Eco 3.5 kW. While this model already includes a similar smart reminder for filter cleaning, Xiaomi’s newest sensor-driven health check highlights the brand’s bigger push toward smarter home maintenance features that aim to improve comfort, efficiency, and long-term appliance care.
