Xiaomi 18 Fold Set to Launch With Huge Battery, Xring O3 Chip, LPDDR6 RAM, and Leica Cameras
Xiaomi is preparing to make a major return to the large foldable smartphone market with the upcoming Xiaomi 18 Fold. The company has confirmed that the new foldable flagship will launch next week alongside the Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro Max, and early hardware details suggest Xiaomi is aiming directly at the premium foldable category.
One of the biggest upgrades is battery capacity. The Xiaomi 18 Fold will feature a 6,000 mAh battery, making it one of the most power-packed foldable phones expected in the market. For comparison, Xiaomi’s previous large foldable, the Mix Fold 4, came with a 5,100 mAh battery. This increase should help users get longer screen time, especially important for foldable devices with large internal displays.
Charging speeds are also impressive. Xiaomi has confirmed support for 67 W wired charging and 50 W wireless charging. That combination gives the Xiaomi 18 Fold a strong advantage for users who want fast top-ups without waiting too long, whether using a cable or a wireless charger.
Performance is another area where the Xiaomi 18 Fold could stand out. The device will be powered by Xiaomi’s in-house flagship processor, the Xring O3. Early testing has suggested that this chipset may deliver stronger performance than current top-tier Android competitors while also improving efficiency. If those results hold up in real-world use, the Xiaomi 18 Fold could become one of the fastest foldable smartphones available.
The phone is also set to become the first smartphone equipped with LPDDR6 memory. This next-generation RAM should improve multitasking, app loading, gaming performance, and overall system responsiveness. For a foldable phone designed for productivity and entertainment, faster memory could make a noticeable difference.
Xiaomi is also placing heavy focus on photography. The Xiaomi 18 Fold will include a triple rear camera system led by a 200 MP main camera with a 1/1.56-inch sensor. It will be joined by a 50 MP periscope telephoto camera offering 3.5x optical zoom and a 50 MP ultra-wide camera. All three rear cameras will use Leica Summilux lenses, which should help deliver sharp detail, better low-light performance, and a more premium mobile photography experience.
Durability is another key selling point. Xiaomi says the 18 Fold will offer 1.2-meter drop resistance, helped by a new dragon-bone hinge design, Xiaomi Dragon Crystal Glass 3.0, and a 7-series aluminum alloy frame. Foldable phones are often judged by their long-term reliability, so these improvements could help reassure buyers who are concerned about strength and durability.
With a larger battery, fast wired and wireless charging, a powerful custom chipset, LPDDR6 memory, Leica-enhanced cameras, and a stronger foldable design, the Xiaomi 18 Fold is shaping up to be one of Xiaomi’s most ambitious smartphones yet. Its official launch next week should reveal the final details, including pricing, availability, display specifications, and software features.
