Xgimi’s Aura 3 Max and Aura 3 Pro Bring Ultra-Bright 5,700-Lumen Projection to US Pre-Orders

Xgimi Aura 3 Max and Aura 3 Pro Bring 4K 120Hz Ultra-Short-Throw Projection to the US

Xgimi is preparing to bring its latest ultra-short-throw laser projectors to the US, with pre-orders now open for the Aura 3 Max and Aura 3 Pro ahead of their Kickstarter launch on October 20. These premium home theater projectors are designed for users who want a massive 4K screen experience without needing a traditional long-throw setup or a ceiling-mounted projector.

The Xgimi Aura 3 Max will be available to Kickstarter backers for $2,399, while the Aura 3 Pro will start at $2,199. Buyers who place a refundable $50 deposit through Xgimi’s US store can receive an additional $200 discount, lowering the early pricing to $2,199 for the Aura 3 Max and $1,999 for the Aura 3 Pro.

The biggest highlight of the Aura 3 series is its support for 4K resolution at 120Hz, a major feature for both movie fans and gamers. Xgimi says these are among the first ultra-short-throw projectors to deliver 4K 120Hz output, giving users smoother motion for fast-paced games, sports, and action-heavy content.

To achieve this, the projectors use two DLPC 8545 display controllers working together. The lineup also supports key gaming features such as variable refresh rate, Auto Low Latency Mode, AMD FreeSync Premium, and Dolby Vision gaming. Depending on the selected picture mode, Xgimi claims input lag can be as low as 1ms, making the Aura 3 series especially appealing for console and PC gamers looking for a giant-screen gaming experience.

Brightness is another major selling point. The Xgimi Aura 3 Max is rated at up to 5,700 ISO lumens with an 8,000:1 native contrast ratio, while the Aura 3 Pro reaches up to 4,100 ISO lumens with a 7,000:1 native contrast ratio. Both models use an RGB triple-laser light source, which is designed to deliver vivid color, high brightness, and long-lasting performance.

Xgimi has also equipped the projectors with its Dynamic Dual Iris system. This feature adjusts light output in real time to improve contrast and image depth depending on the scene. The Aura 3 Max is said to cover 110% of the BT.2020 color gamut, which should help produce rich and cinematic colors for movies, shows, and games.

As ultra-short-throw projectors, the Aura 3 Max and Aura 3 Pro are built for easy placement close to a wall or projection screen. With a 0.163:1 throw ratio, they can create a 120-inch image from roughly eight inches away. The Aura 3 Max can scale even larger, supporting screen sizes up to 200 inches for users who want a true theater-style setup at home.

The projectors support a wide range of HDR formats, including Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HDR10, and HLG. They are also IMAX Enhanced certified, which should appeal to home cinema enthusiasts who want a more immersive viewing experience. Xgimi has included 3D playback support as well, with two pairs of 3D glasses included.

For smart TV features, both models run Google TV. That means users get access to popular streaming apps such as Netflix, Prime Video, and YouTube, along with Google Cast support for sending content from compatible devices. This makes the Aura 3 series more than just a projector; it functions as a complete entertainment system.

Audio is handled by an 80W Harman Kardon speaker system with support for Dolby Atmos and DTS Virtual:X. While many projector owners may still prefer a dedicated soundbar or surround sound setup, the built-in speaker system should provide a strong out-of-the-box audio experience for everyday viewing.

Xgimi is also including its WALL app, which allows the projector to display digital artwork when it is not being used for movies or gaming. This feature can help the projector blend into a living room environment instead of leaving a blank wall or screen unused.

Deposit holders will receive a link on October 20 to complete their Kickstarter pledge. Xgimi lists the standard retail prices at $4,999 for the Aura 3 Max and $3,999 for the Aura 3 Pro, although shipping details have not yet been announced.

With 4K 120Hz output, high brightness, ultra-short-throw placement, Google TV, Dolby Vision, gaming-focused features, and built-in Harman Kardon audio, the Xgimi Aura 3 Max and Aura 3 Pro are shaping up to be serious options for anyone looking to build a premium big-screen home theater setup without the complexity of a traditional projector installation.
