Vivo’s Upcoming Compact Flagship Leak Reveals Key Camera Upgrades

Vivo’s next compact flagship phone is already starting to make waves, with a fresh leak revealing key camera and hardware details ahead of its expected launch later in 2026. The device is believed to be part of the upcoming Vivo X500 series, which is set to succeed the Vivo X300 lineup as the company’s next-generation premium smartphone family.

According to information shared by well-known tipster Digital Chat Station, Vivo may be preparing a compact Pro model with high-end imaging hardware. The phone is expected to feature a display measuring around 6.37 inches, making it smaller than many modern flagship smartphones while still offering top-tier specifications.

One of the most interesting details is the chipset. The upcoming Vivo X500 series is rumored to use a MediaTek Dimensity processor built on an advanced 2nm process. Earlier reports have pointed to the Dimensity 9600 series as a possible candidate for Vivo’s next flagship lineup. If accurate, this could bring major improvements in performance, power efficiency, AI processing, and thermal management.

The leaked camera setup suggests Vivo is putting strong emphasis on photography, even for its more compact flagship model. The phone is tipped to include a 50-megapixel main camera with a large 1/1.28-inch sensor. This sensor may also support LOFIC technology, which is designed to improve dynamic range and help capture better detail in both bright and dark areas of a photo.

Alongside the main camera, the device is expected to feature a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera. This should make it more versatile for landscape shots, group photos, architecture, and close-range creative photography. The biggest highlight, however, could be the 64-megapixel periscope telephoto camera.

Periscope lenses are usually found in larger flagship phones, so including one in a compact model would make the device stand out. The leak suggests that the Pro models in the Vivo X500 series may all come with periscope telephoto cameras offering an 85mm-equivalent focal length. This would make the phone especially appealing for portrait photography and zoom shots, giving users more flexibility without needing a bulky device.

If these details prove accurate, Vivo’s upcoming compact flagship could become one of the most exciting Android phones of 2026. A smaller display, a powerful next-generation Dimensity chipset, and a triple-camera system with a periscope telephoto lens would position it as a strong option for users who want flagship performance in a more manageable size.

Vivo has not yet confirmed any official specifications, launch timing, or model names for the X500 series. However, the leaks suggest the company may be planning a serious upgrade for its next flagship generation, particularly in mobile photography.

Separately, Vivo has also begun revealing key camera information for its upcoming Vivo X Fold 6, showing that the brand continues to focus heavily on imaging performance across its premium smartphone lineup.
