Vivo’s X-series flagships could be in line for a notable shake-up in 2026, with a fresh leak hinting at a new chipset strategy and a major battery boost for the next generation.
To recap where things stand, Vivo launched the X300 series in October 2025, including the Vivo X300 and Vivo X300 Pro. Both models arrived with the Dimensity 9500, positioning MediaTek’s flagship silicon at the heart of Vivo’s premium lineup.
Now, new information shared by tipster Smart Pikachu on Weibo suggests MediaTek is preparing two high-end processors in its upcoming Dimensity flagship range: the Dimensity 9600 and an upgraded Dimensity 9600 Pro. If this pans out, the Vivo X500 series is expected to be the first smartphone line to adopt these chips.
The leak claims the standard Vivo X500 may run on the Dimensity 9600, while the Vivo X500 Pro could step up to the Dimensity 9600 Pro. This kind of split mirrors what many brands do with their flagship families—offering a top-tier “Pro” performance option while keeping the base model slightly more affordable without leaving the flagship class.
Beyond performance, the Vivo X500 series is also rumored to bring a significant battery upgrade. Capacity may climb to around 7,000mAh, which would be a substantial jump for a flagship phone and could translate into noticeably longer screen time, better endurance for gaming, and more headroom for camera-heavy use.
The leak also mentions that Vivo may not be the only brand planning to use the Dimensity 9600, with Oppo’s Find X10 series also expected to adopt the chipset.
As always with early leaks, it’s worth treating these details cautiously until Vivo and MediaTek share official specifications. Still, the idea of a Dimensity 9600/9600 Pro pairing and a potential 7,000mAh battery makes the Vivo X500 and Vivo X500 Pro worth watching if you’re tracking upcoming flagship phones, MediaTek Dimensity upgrades, and the next big leap in battery life.
