Vivo Steps Into the Spotlight: A Bold New Move Into Vlogging Cameras

Vivo is preparing to take its well-known camera expertise beyond smartphones and into a brand-new category: dedicated vlogging cameras. The company has reportedly confirmed it’s working on a handheld vlogging camera designed to compete directly with the popular DJI Osmo Pocket lineup, signaling that Vivo wants a bigger role in the creator camera market.

According to a report from Chinese outlet Jieman News, Vivo began development on this new vlogging camera in late 2025, with a launch expected sometime later in 2026. While Vivo has built a strong reputation for smartphone photography and video performance in recent years, this move suggests the brand believes there’s still room for a purpose-built, pocketable camera that delivers creator-friendly video without relying on a phone.

At the moment, key details remain under wraps. There’s no official information yet on specifications, pricing, sensor size, stabilization features, or whether the camera will use a gimbal-style design like DJI’s Pocket series. That said, Vivo’s history of emphasizing imaging partnerships and premium camera tuning makes it reasonable to expect strong video processing and potentially familiar branding from its existing camera collaborations.

If Vivo follows through with a 2026 release, it will be entering an increasingly competitive space. DJI’s Pocket line has become a go-to option for travel footage, social media content, and everyday vlogging thanks to its compact size and stabilized video. The last major release in that family, the Osmo Pocket 3, arrived in October 2023. Newer models are widely anticipated, which means Vivo’s first vlogging camera may debut right as the next wave of creator-focused handheld cameras lands.

Competition may not stop at DJI, either. Reports also suggest Insta360 is exploring its own alternative to the Pocket-style category, with talk of a modular design concept, though timing and product details are still unclear.

For creators and casual vloggers, Vivo entering the vlogging camera market could be a big deal. More competition typically means faster innovation, better value, and new approaches to compact video capture—especially if Vivo applies the same imaging ambition it’s showcased in smartphones to a dedicated camera built specifically for vlogging.
