The timeless GW-5000U series from Casio’s G-Shock is reportedly set to expand with two fresh and sleek monochromatic designs, according to leaked images that have stirred excitement among watch enthusiasts. While Casio hasn’t made an official statement, these anticipated models are expected to grace the market in the coming year, honoring a series celebrated for its enduring style and rugged dependability.
Originating with the DW-5000C in 1983, the GW-5000 series was the brainchild of Kikuo Ibe, who crafted a digital watch that was not only shock-resistant but also exceptionally stylish for its time. This pioneering design laid a new foundation for what digital timepieces could achieve. Over the years, the series has evolved, embracing technological upgrades such as solar charging and radio-controlled timekeeping, all the while staying true to its original essence.
Released in 2021, the GW-5000U continues the tradition with features that pay homage to its forerunners. This includes retaining its signature metal casing and screw-down backs, alongside modern advancements like Multi-Band 6 radio time adjustment and sophisticated Tough Solar technology. It has won the hearts of many for its perfect blend of nostalgia and state-of-the-art functionality.
The leaked images reveal the upcoming models, portraying them in minimalist yet striking monochromatic styles. The black model exhibits a matte finish paired with a glossy LCD screen, exuding a sleek aura. Meanwhile, the white variant offers a crisp and vibrant look with a white casing contrasted by a black display, giving it a chic contemporary appeal. Both maintain the iconic square case design of the original DW-5000C, showcasing a proud legacy.
Although not yet confirmed by Casio, it is anticipated that these new models will be equipped with Tough Solar charging ensuring prolonged battery life, Multi-Band 6 atomic timekeeping, DLC-coated screw-down case backs, and durable soft urethane bands. Water resistance up to 200 meters is also expected to be part of the package, making them practical for everyday adventures.
The latest buzz suggests that these elegant black and white GW-5000U versions could be making their debut in early 2025. While official details are pending, the leaked visuals strongly hint at an imminent announcement, sparking anticipation among G-Shock fans around the globe.
