Casio G-Shock Mudmaster GWG-B1000-1A3 Debuts With Military-Inspired Styling, Bluetooth, and Triple Sensor Tech
Casio has introduced a new addition to its rugged G-Shock Mudmaster lineup, and this one leans heavily into tactical outdoor style. The new G-Shock Mudmaster GWG-B1000-1A3 brings together a black-and-tan military-inspired design with the durability, sensor technology, and adventure-ready features that have made the Mudmaster series a favorite among outdoor enthusiasts, hikers, field workers, and G-Shock collectors.
The latest Mudmaster model arrives with a more subdued look than some of the brighter versions released in the past. Instead of bold red or orange accents, the GWG-B1000-1A3 uses a stealthy black case, tan details on the dial and bezel, and a matte olive green urethane band. The result is a watch that feels purpose-built for harsh terrain, outdoor missions, and everyday wear while still keeping the signature G-Shock toughness front and center.
Casio has designed the GWG-B1000-1A3 with a strong focus on protection. The watch uses a multi-part guard structure made from stainless steel and carbon fiber-reinforced resin. This construction helps protect the internal module from shocks, impacts, mud, dust, and vibrations. Cylindrical stainless steel button guards add another layer of defense, while the screw-lock crown is designed to help keep dirt and debris from entering the case.
To further boost durability, Casio includes vibration-resistant αGEL material around the module. This makes the watch especially well suited for demanding environments where movement, impact, and rough handling are part of the routine.
The dial is built for function as much as style. Around the outer edge, there is a compass scale, while a vertical sensor indicator sits at the 9 o’clock position. A gold-accented multifunction subdial appears at 3 o’clock, giving the watch a premium touch without losing its rugged character. At 6 o’clock, a rectangular dot-matrix LCD display provides access to sensor data and other digital functions.
For improved usability, the analog hands can move out of the way when needed, allowing the wearer to read the digital display more clearly. The large high-contrast hands and markers also make the watch easier to read at a glance, even in challenging outdoor conditions.
One of the main highlights of the G-Shock Mudmaster GWG-B1000-1A3 is its Triple Sensor technology. This includes a compass, altimeter/barometer, and thermometer, making the watch a practical tool for trekking, camping, climbing, field navigation, and weather tracking.
The digital compass supports 16 directions and can measure from 0 to 359 degrees. It also includes bearing memory, allowing users to store a direction for reference. The watch can also point toward a location saved through the companion Casio app, adding a modern navigation feature to the classic outdoor watch experience.
The altimeter can measure from -700 meters to 10,000 meters in 1-meter increments, while the barometer measures atmospheric pressure from 260 to 1,100 hPa. The thermometer supports temperatures from -10°C to 60°C in 0.1°C increments. Together, these tools make the Mudmaster GWG-B1000-1A3 more than just a timepiece; it becomes a compact wrist-mounted survival and exploration companion.
Bluetooth connectivity is also included, allowing the watch to sync with a smartphone. Through the Casio app, users can access automatic time adjustment and other connected features. The watch also supports Multiband 6 radio-controlled timekeeping, giving it another way to maintain accurate time in supported regions.
Power comes from Casio’s Tough Solar system. On a full charge, the watch can run for around six months without additional solar charging. In power-saving mode, battery life can extend up to approximately 24 months. This makes it a reliable choice for users who do not want to worry about frequent charging or battery replacement.
As expected from a Mudmaster model, the GWG-B1000-1A3 is built for serious outdoor use. It offers 200-meter water resistance, making it suitable for swimming, wet conditions, heavy rain, and tough outdoor environments. The anti-reflective sapphire crystal adds scratch resistance and helps improve visibility, while the Super Illuminator double LED light keeps both the analog dial and digital display readable in the dark.
The watch also includes a wide range of practical timekeeping and daily-use functions. These include world time for 55 cities across 38 time zones plus UTC, a stopwatch, countdown timer, five alarms, sunrise and sunset display, automatic hand-position correction, and a needle retraction function.
The Casio G-Shock Mudmaster GWG-B1000-1A3 measures 58.7 × 52.1 × 16.2mm and weighs 114g. Its case and bezel are made from resin and stainless steel, paired with a matte olive green urethane strap. The structure includes Carbon Core Guard protection, shock resistance, vibration resistance, dust resistance, and mud resistance.
The new G-Shock Mudmaster GWG-B1000-1A3 is currently available for pre-order in Japan at ¥132,000, which is approximately $859. Official sales are expected to begin later this month. Casio has not yet confirmed when the model will launch in other global markets.
