Decathlon has expanded its Riverside collection with the latest addition, the ETR920 SUV trekking e-bike, now hitting the market in Germany. This new entry carries the definition of ruggedness and convenience in the e-bike world, boasting a robust set of features tailored for the adventurous rider.
The ETR920 is labeled as a ‘Perf Line’ e-bike, which signifies the incorporation of the powerful Bosch Performance Line motor. This powerhouse delivers a 250W output and an impressive torque of 75Nm, ensuring you have plenty of power for tackling diverse terrains and steep inclines without losing your momentum. The trekking bicycle’s performance is further enhanced by the Bosch PowerPack battery with a capacity of 545Wh. This nearly seamless component offers riders an assistance range of approximately 110 kilometers or 68 miles, depending on the riding conditions, route, and rider’s weight—ensuring your journey need not be cut short due to battery concerns.
One of the hallmark features of the ETR920 is its Bosch Smart system integration. Through this innovative technology, cyclists can seamlessly link their smartphone to the bike, unlocking a world of navigational convenience and real-time data. This connectivity is enabled by the e-bike Flow app, which takes on the role of your riding companion by presenting journey analytics and controls at your fingertips.
Speed, distance, and battery life are no longer a mystery during your escapades, thanks to the BOSCH Intuvia 100 display strategically positioned on the bike. This handy device isn’t just for viewing important metrics; it also serves as a power source with its micro USB port, allowing you to charge your smartphone on the go. For those who prefer to have their phone within sight for GPS navigation or music, the addition of a bike phone holder such as Lamicall’s can be a game-changer.
Comfort isn’t sacrificed in the name of performance with the ETR920. The e-bike is fitted with an SR Suntour SF32 XCM suspension fork, which boasts 100mm of travel to smoothly absorb shocks from uneven paths and provide a smoother ride. Shifting gears is a breeze with the efficient 10-speed drivetrain, featuring a Shimano Cues U6000 rear derailleur. Safe stopping power comes from the reliable Shimano BR-MT200 brakes with 180 mm discs, ensuring that no matter how fast you ride, you can come to a halt securely and comfortably.
The e-bike’s design includes 27.5-inch Continental Contact Urban tires chosen specifically for their durability and traction on both city streets and rural paths. Practicality is also a strong suit of the ETR920, as it comes pre-equipped with essential accessories like sleek mudguards, a handy bicycle stand for easy parking, a robust luggage rack for your cargo needs, and a bell for signaling presence – making it a fully-equipped ride right out of the store.
Available in three sizes to suit different riders, from M to XL, the ETR920 is both accessible and versatile. The smallest frame size scales at around 27.1 kg or 59.7 lbs, a manageable weight considering the features it packs.
Currently, the e-bike is retailing in Germany for €2,799. Whether Decathlon plans to bring this desirable SUV trekking e-bike to international markets remains to be seen. Cycling enthusiasts outside Germany will have to stay tuned for updates on the potential availability of this robust and feature-rich trekking companion in their region.
