Trek Domane+ SL debuts as a lightweight carbon road e-bike built for endurance rides
Trek has introduced the Domane+ SL, a new electric road bike aimed at riders who want endurance-road comfort with discreet pedal assistance and a lightweight carbon build. The latest addition expands Trek’s growing e-bike lineup, following recent releases such as the Inbound+ and District+ models.
The Domane+ SL is built around Trek’s previous-generation Domane endurance road platform, giving it a familiar road-bike feel while adding electric support for longer rides, steeper climbs, and faster group outings. With a carbon frame and a claimed weight of 24.5 lbs, or 11.1 kg, it is significantly lighter than many traditional electric bikes, making it especially appealing to cyclists who want assistance without sacrificing a responsive ride.
Trek also offers an aluminum version of the Domane+, but the carbon-fiber Domane+ SL cuts roughly 6.6 lbs, or about 3 kg, from the overall weight. That difference should be noticeable for riders who prioritize efficiency, handling, and ease of transport.
Power comes from the compact TQ HPR40 motor, rated at 200 W and delivering up to 40 Nm of torque. The system is designed to provide smooth and natural-feeling assistance rather than an overly aggressive boost, which fits the bike’s endurance-road purpose. Trek lists a top assisted speed of 28 mph, or 45 km/h, depending on regional regulations.
Battery options include a 360 Wh pack and a larger 580 Wh pack. According to Trek, the smaller battery can deliver up to 70 miles, or 113 km, of range, while the larger battery increases the claimed range to as much as 115 miles, or 185 km. Actual range will vary based on rider weight, terrain, assist level, speed, and weather conditions, but these figures position the Domane+ SL as a strong option for long-distance road cycling.
The carbon frame is rated to support a maximum payload of up to 275 lbs, or 125 kg. Riders also get a TQ color LED display with Bluetooth and ANT+ connectivity, offering key ride data in a clean and compact format. For braking, the Domane+ SL uses hydraulic disc brakes with 160 mm rotors, providing consistent stopping power in varied riding conditions.
Another useful feature is support for the Trek Central app, which allows riders to adjust motor settings, tune assistance levels, and manage other e-bike functions. This gives cyclists more control over how the bike responds, whether they want maximum range, stronger climbing support, or a more traditional road-bike feel.
The Trek Domane+ SL is available in three configurations and six frame sizes: XS, S, M, ML, L, and XL. Pricing starts at $6,500 in the United States and €5,999 in Europe.
