Timex has expanded its Deepwater collection with a new travel-ready model that blends dive-watch toughness with GMT functionality. The Timex Deepwater Meridian 200 Automatic GMT brings a 24-hour hand to the Meridian 200 lineup for the first time, giving the watch a more versatile identity for anyone who wants a rugged everyday automatic that can also track another time zone.
The new model launched on July 30 and is available in three dial colors: black, blue, and green. The references are TW2Y63900 for the black dial, TW2Y64000 for the blue dial, and TW2Y64100 for the green dial. Each version is priced at $549.
The Deepwater range is Timex’s dive-focused watch family, while the Meridian 200 has become one of its key models since its arrival a little over a year ago. Until now, the line has included quartz and automatic three-hand versions, with pricing generally ranging from around $240 to $550. With the new Automatic GMT, Timex is pushing the Meridian 200 further into enthusiast territory by adding a practical travel complication while keeping the durable build that defines the collection.
The biggest change is the addition of a 21-jewel self-winding automatic movement with a 24-hour GMT hand. This allows the wearer to track an additional time zone at a glance. Timex has not officially named the movement used in the watch, and it has not confirmed whether the GMT hand or the local hour hand can be adjusted independently. That detail matters for frequent travelers, since it affects how quickly and easily the watch can be reset when crossing time zones.
Another major update is the bezel. Standard Meridian models use a unidirectional dive-time bezel, but the GMT version switches to a bidirectional 24-hour ceramic bezel. The bezel has a two-tone design that separates day and night hours, making it easier to read a second or even third time zone. This change shifts the watch slightly away from traditional dive-watch operation and toward travel use, while still keeping a strong water-resistance rating.
The case is made from stainless steel with a mix of brushed and polished finishing. It measures 42 mm in diameter, 14.5 mm thick, and 48.8 mm lug to lug. Those dimensions give it a bold wrist presence without moving too far from the size range expected of modern tool watches.
Timex has also equipped the Deepwater Meridian 200 Automatic GMT with 200 meters of water resistance. That is supported by a screw-down crown, crown guards, and a screw-on caseback. The front is protected by a sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating, an appealing feature at this price point and one that should help with durability and everyday readability.
The dial layout is practical and familiar. A date window sits at 3 o’clock, while the hands and hour markers include luminous material for visibility in low light. The GMT hand adds a splash of extra functionality without making the dial look overly busy.
Each model comes on a five-link stainless steel bracelet with a jubilee-style design. The bracelet includes quick-release spring bars for easier strap changes and uses a butterfly clasp for a clean, balanced look on the wrist.
At $549, the Timex Deepwater Meridian 200 Automatic GMT enters a competitive segment filled with affordable automatic sports watches and travel watches.
