The Expanse: Osiris Reborn Shows Off Explosive Ganymede Mission in New Gameplay Trailer
The Expanse: Osiris Reborn continues to look like a dream project for fans of squad-based sci-fi RPGs. The latest gameplay footage from Owlcat Games leans even further into tense space drama, tactical firefights, and companion-driven action, making it difficult not to draw comparisons to classic cinematic role-playing adventures set among the stars.
The new gameplay sequence, titled “Beetle in the Anthill,” takes players deep inside a hidden Protogen facility on Ganymede. The mission begins with the main character and their twin sister, J, entering the compound while disguised as members of the secretive Osiris branch. As expected in The Expanse universe, the plan does not stay clean for long.
What starts as a stealthy infiltration quickly erupts into chaos. The footage shows intense cover-based shooting through industrial hallways, destructible environments, and the use of companion abilities during combat. The situation becomes even more dangerous when a protomolecule-infected creature appears, bringing one of the franchise’s most unsettling threats directly into the action.
The Expanse: Osiris Reborn will allow players to create their own captain and choose from three different backgrounds: Earther, Martian, or Belter. These origins are expected to shape the player’s perspective and may influence how they interact with the world and its factions.
As the story progresses, players will take command of their own ship and assemble a crew. Two companions can join ground missions, while other crew members remain aboard the ship to provide support. Owlcat Games is also emphasizing player choice, with decisions affecting relationships between crew members and potentially altering the direction of the wider narrative.
The new trailer suggests that Osiris Reborn may be more action-focused than some longtime fans of The Expanse expected. Still, the combination of political tension, squad-based combat, ship management, and branching choices could make it one of the most intriguing upcoming sci-fi RPGs.
For players who have been waiting for a new story-driven space RPG with tactical combat and meaningful companion interactions, The Expanse: Osiris Reborn is becoming increasingly hard to ignore.
The Expanse: Osiris Reborn is scheduled to launch in Spring 2027 for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
