A new Tapo smart light switch could soon be joining the brand’s growing smart home lineup, and it looks designed for people who want lighting that feels truly automatic. A recent listing in the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA) database points to an upcoming accessory called the Tapo Presence Sensor Dimmer Switch, also described as the Tapo Smart Presence Sensor Single-pole Dimmer Switch.
What makes this device stand out is its built-in sensor hardware. According to the product listing details, it includes an ambient light sensor that appears to be used for detecting human presence. In practical terms, that could enable smarter lighting behavior, such as turning lights on when someone enters a room, keeping them on while the space is occupied, and potentially lowering brightness when the room is already well-lit. With a dimmer built in, the switch may also be able to automatically adjust the brightness of connected lights instead of just switching them on and off.
Another feature mentioned is energy usage monitoring. That’s expected to be accessible through the brand’s app, allowing users to track power consumption over time and potentially spot patterns that could help reduce electricity use.
The CSA entry also indicates support for both Wi‑Fi and Bluetooth. Just as importantly for buyers comparing smart home devices, Matter compatibility is listed as well, which should help the switch work across a broad range of Matter-enabled smart home platforms and apps. The product information in the listing suggests the model may be identified as the Tapo S207.
For now, TP-Link hasn’t officially announced the Tapo presence sensor dimmer switch, and there’s no confirmed release date or pricing yet. Still, the appearance of a Matter-ready presence-sensing dimmer in the CSA database strongly hints that a launch could be approaching, giving smart home users another option for more responsive, automated lighting control.
