TP-Link has officially brought the Tapo H110 Smart IR & IoT Hub to the US, giving smart home users a new way to control both traditional appliances and connected devices from one compact hub. After launching in Japan in 2024 and rolling out to several European markets, the Tapo H110 is now available stateside, positioning itself as an affordable upgrade for anyone looking to modernize an existing home setup without replacing perfectly good appliances.
At its core, the Tapo H110 is designed to work as a universal infrared remote control. That means it can take over for many of the remotes you already use for everyday electronics and home comfort devices. TP-Link says it supports 18 types of devices, including air conditioners, TVs, and lights, and offers compatibility with products from more than 8,000 brands. For households with a mix of older IR-controlled gear and newer smart devices, this kind of broad support can be a major convenience.
Once set up, the hub lets you control compatible devices remotely through the Tapo app, so you can adjust your air conditioner, turn lights on or off, or manage other appliances even when you’re away from home. It also supports voice control through popular assistants, including Alexa, Google Assistant, and Siri, making it easier to integrate into a hands-free smart home routine.
Beyond basic control, the Tapo app adds automation tools that can make a real difference in daily use. You can build schedules to run appliances at specific times, and you can set GPS-based triggers to automatically switch devices on or off when you arrive home or leave. These automations can help improve convenience, reduce wasted energy, and make the home feel more responsive without constant manual adjustments.
The Tapo H110 also doubles as a smart home hub for TP-Link’s broader ecosystem, working with compatible smart sensors and cameras from the brand. It goes a step further with Matter certification, which is important for buyers who want smoother compatibility across major smart home platforms and ecosystems. Matter support can simplify setup and reduce the friction that often comes with mixing devices from different manufacturers.
Security is another part of the package. The hub includes an integrated 93 dB siren, which can be used as an alarm to help deter intruders when paired with sensors and automations. And for reliability, TP-Link notes that even if your external network connection drops, you can still control devices on the same local area network (LAN), which is a useful fallback when internet access is unstable.
Pricing is one of the most attention-grabbing parts of the launch. The TP-Link Tapo H110 Smart IR & IoT Hub is now available in the US for $29.99 through TP-Link’s online store and its Amazon storefront. At the time of writing, it’s still not available through the brand’s Amazon store in the UK.
