Fans of the classic Legacy of Kain series are in for a nostalgic treat as it was recently announced that Soul Reaver 1 and 2 will be receiving remastered editions. However, this announcement didn’t come without a bit of controversy surrounding some changes that initially upset the community. One particular point of contention was the redesign of an in-game glyph statue, which some fans argued appeared less feminine and more androgynous compared to the original.
In a surprising turn of events, fans will be relieved to learn that this change has been reversed. The statue now closely resembles its original look, a decision confirmed by Raina Audron, the director overseeing these much-anticipated remasters. An associate of Audron revealed, “The statue that caused such an uproar among fans has been redone,” indicating that some features shown in the trailers were still under development and subject to change.
Raina Audron, who is also known for her work at Aspyr Media on the Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered collection, isn’t just any director. She previously ran a popular fan website and YouTube channel dedicated to the Legacy of Kain series. Through these platforms, Audron has been sharing exclusive insights into the development of the Soul Reaver remasters, providing fans with a captivating behind-the-scenes look.
Marked on calendars is December 10th, the release date for the Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered. The games will be available across various platforms, including Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PS5.
For fans of the series, this remastering promises to rekindle the magic of these iconic games, now with a commitment to authenticity and nostalgia.
