Waking up and wondering how well you actually slept is common, but getting meaningful answers usually requires wearing a smartwatch or a ring all night. Sleepal is taking a different approach by combining sleep tracking technology with an everyday bedside lamp, aiming to monitor your night without anything on your body.
After you wake up, the Sleepal smartphone app presents a detailed sleep evaluation. It breaks the night down into sleep phases and also tracks key wellness indicators such as heart rate and breathing rate during sleep. The app doesn’t stop at reporting data—it’s built to turn those insights into practical sleep-improvement guidance. For example, it can offer suggestions like which sleeping positions you may want to avoid when you’re trying to fall asleep, based on what the system detects over time.
Sleepal also targets people who want deeper long-term insights from multiple sources. If you already use a smartwatch or another wearable, you can sync that data with the Sleepal app for a more complete picture of your sleep habits and nighttime patterns.
Placement matters for accurate tracking. The lamp needs to be positioned within 2 meters of where you sleep. If two people share a bed, Sleepal will only record the sleep of the person closest to the sensors, so it’s best suited for individuals or couples who specifically want to monitor one sleeper at a time.
Pricing and availability details are tied to crowdfunding. Sleepal is being funded through Kickstarter, with campaign pricing expected to start at $269. The planned retail price is listed at $449 once it moves beyond the campaign period. The company hasn’t yet confirmed the exact Kickstarter launch date or when shipping will begin.
