Shelly’s Smart Temperature & Humidity Sensor Officially Launches in the U.S.

Shelly has officially brought its BLU H&T ZB smart temperature and humidity sensor to the United States, giving smart home users a compact new option for keeping tabs on indoor comfort, air quality risks, and growing conditions. The sensor has already been available in parts of Europe, and it’s now listed for purchase through Shelly’s US online store.

Designed for everyday monitoring as well as more specialized setups, the BLU H&T ZB can be used to help manage climate control around the house, spot conditions that may lead to mold or mildew, or fine-tune temperature and humidity levels in spaces like a greenhouse. Shelly lists an operating temperature range of -20°C to 60°C (about -5°F to 140°F), along with humidity readings from 0% to 100% RH, covering the full range most households and hobby growers care about.

A key selling point is flexibility in connectivity. The BLU H&T ZB supports both Bluetooth and Zigbee, making it easier to fit into a broader smart home system and pair with a variety of compatible devices. However, anyone planning to check readings or manage the sensor remotely through the Shelly Smart Control app should know there’s an extra requirement: it needs to be connected through a compatible gateway, such as the Shelly BLU Gateway, for remote access.

The sensor is built to be low-maintenance. It runs on a CR2032 battery with an estimated battery life of around three years, which should appeal to users who want to “set it and forget it” rather than constantly recharge or replace power sources. It’s also marketed with an IP54 rating for dust and water resistance, a useful bonus for placing it in more challenging spots like utility areas, covered patios, or greenhouse environments.

In terms of size, the BLU H&T ZB is notably small and lightweight, measuring 37 x 37 x 10 mm (roughly 1.46 x 1.46 x 0.39 inches) and weighing 13 g (about 0.44 oz). That makes it easy to mount or tuck away without drawing attention, while still collecting the environmental data you need.

Pricing in the US is set at $22.99. Shelly lists three color options—Mocha, Black, and Ivory—but at the moment only Black and Ivory appear to be available. Stock also seems limited, with roughly 300 units mentioned, and there’s no clear timeline yet for when more inventory will arrive.
