Shelly Wall Displays Get Smarter with Multi-Dashboard Support

Shelly Wall Display Update Adds Multiple Dashboards for Smarter Home Control

Shelly is preparing a useful upgrade for its Wall Display lineup, bringing more flexibility to homeowners who use wall-mounted panels to control their smart home devices. The upcoming software version 2.7.0, now available in beta, introduces support for multiple dashboards on select Wall Display models.

Wall-mounted smart home control panels are becoming a popular alternative to relying on smartphones, voice assistants, or scattered switches around the home. Shelly has continued to invest heavily in this category with its Wall Display series, giving users a centralized way to manage lighting, plugs, heating, cooling, and other connected devices.

With the new beta update, users can save and switch between several dashboard layouts. Depending on the Wall Display model, the device can now support up to five separate dashboards. This makes it easier to create different control screens for different needs, rooms, or routines.

For example, one dashboard could focus on lighting controls, another on heating and air conditioning, and another on energy monitoring or frequently used smart plugs. Families may also find this useful if different household members prefer different layouts.

Until now, Shelly Wall Display users could customize dashboards with widgets, but they were limited when it came to switching between multiple complete dashboard setups. The new software changes that by allowing more than one standard display configuration.

However, the feature is not available on every model. Due to hardware limitations, multiple dashboards are currently supported only on the following devices:

Shelly Wall Display X2: up to 3 dashboards

Shelly Wall Display X2i: up to 3 dashboards

Shelly Wall Display XL: up to 5 dashboards

The Wall Display XL offers the most flexibility, making it the best option for users who want several dedicated smart home control screens.

One of the biggest advantages of a fixed smart home control panel is convenience. Instead of unlocking a phone, opening an app, or asking a voice assistant, users can simply walk up to the wall-mounted display and control connected devices directly. Shelly’s Wall Displays also include integrated switch actuators, allowing additional electrical consumers to be connected directly into the smart home system.

The update may also appeal to users who rely on Home Assistant integration. Shelly Wall Displays can be used as part of a broader smart home setup, giving more advanced users extra control over automation and device management.

That said, performance is still something to watch. Some users have previously reported slower response times, particularly when using Home Assistant. Shelly suggests that cleaner, simpler dashboards can help improve usability. Whether having multiple dashboards will make daily operation smoother or more complicated will depend on how users organize their layouts.

The new software is currently available as beta version 2.7.0. Existing Wall Display owners can try the feature now by switching to the beta release. However, there is an important warning: once the device is updated to the beta version, it cannot be rolled back to the previous stable version 2.6.2.

Because of that, users who rely on their Wall Display every day may prefer to wait for the final stable release. Beta software can include bugs or unexpected behavior, so it is best suited for users who are comfortable testing new features before they are fully polished.

As for pricing, the top-end Shelly Wall Display XL is currently available for around $350, while smaller models are generally more affordable. For smart home enthusiasts looking for a permanent control hub, the new multiple-dashboard feature could make Shelly’s Wall Display range more practical and versatile than before.
