Seiko’s Budget-Friendly 5 Sports SKX Mechanical Watches Launch Worldwide

Seiko 5 Sports SKX HDB004 and HDB005 Launch Globally With Affordable Automatic Style

Seiko has officially released two new additions to its popular 5 Sports SKX lineup worldwide. The Seiko 5 Sports SKX HDB004 “Formal White” and HDB005 “Tweed Green” are now available in major markets, including the United States, United Kingdom, Europe, India, and Australia.

Designed for buyers who want an accessible mechanical watch with everyday versatility, these new models blend the sporty character of the SKX-inspired case with more refined, dress-friendly details. With automatic movements, stainless steel cases, 100-meter water resistance, and attractive gold-tone accents, the HDB004 and HDB005 offer a stylish entry point into mechanical watch ownership.

The Seiko 5 Sports SKX HDB004, also known as “Formal White,” features a clean white dial paired with a black rotating bezel. Yellow gold-tone hands, hour markers, and bezel details give the watch a slightly more polished appearance, making it easy to wear with both casual and smarter outfits.

The HDB005 “Tweed Green” takes a richer approach. It comes with a deep green dial and matching green bezel, complemented by rose gold-tone hands and markers. The result is a warm, eye-catching design that stands out while still feeling classic and wearable.

Both watches take inspiration from older Seiko designs, particularly the SNZH-style look, while keeping the familiar DNA of the modern 5 Sports SKX range. Although the overall design has a strong sporty feel, these models are not positioned as professional dive watches. Instead, they are built for everyday use, offering the look and practicality many buyers want without the higher cost of a dedicated diver.

Each model comes in a 42.5mm stainless steel case with a thickness of 14.2mm and a lug-to-lug length of 46mm. The front is protected by a curved Hardlex crystal, while the unidirectional rotating bezel adds to the tool-watch appearance. LumiBrite is applied to the hands and markers, helping improve visibility in low-light conditions.

Inside the HDB004 and HDB005 is Seiko’s reliable 4R36 automatic movement. This well-known caliber includes manual winding, hacking seconds, a day-date display, 24 jewels, and approximately 41 hours of power reserve. A see-through case back allows owners to view the mechanical movement at work, adding extra appeal for those new to automatic watches.

Water resistance is rated at 100 meters, making the watches suitable for daily wear and light water exposure. However, they do not offer the 200-meter rating commonly associated with traditional dive watches. Other practical features include a screw-down case back and a three-fold clasp with secure lock for the stainless steel bracelet.

The Seiko 5 Sports SKX HDB004 and HDB005 are priced at $400 in the US, £340 in the UK, €400 in Europe, ₹45,000 in India, and AUD 650 in Australia. Both models are now available through Seiko boutiques and authorized retailers.

With their automatic movements, distinctive color options, and accessible pricing, the new Seiko 5 Sports SKX HDB004 “Formal White” and HDB005 “Tweed Green” are likely to appeal to anyone searching for an affordable mechanical watch that works well for everyday wear.
