Seiko Expands the 5 Sports SKX Line with New HDB004 and HDB005 Automatic Watches
Seiko is adding two fresh models to its popular 5 Sports SKX collection: the HDB004 and HDB005. Both watches are scheduled for release in October 2026 and are now listed for the US market, although official pricing has not yet been announced.
Unlike some recent SKX releases, these two models do not appear to be limited editions. That should make them especially interesting for collectors and everyday watch fans who want a new Seiko 5 Sports automatic without the pressure of a short production run.
The Seiko HDB005 brings a rich green look to the SKX lineup. It features a green dial paired with a matching green bezel insert, giving the watch a coordinated and sporty appearance. Rose gold-tone hands and markers add warmth to the design, creating a more refined contrast against the darker green background.
The Seiko HDB004 takes a very different approach. It comes with a silver-white sunburst dial and a black bezel, offering a cleaner and more classic look. Yellow gold-tone hands and applied indexes give it a slightly dressier feel while still keeping the rugged character expected from the Seiko 5 Sports SKX series.
Both watches feature the familiar day-date display at 3 o’clock, positioned beneath the Seiko 5 logo. Each model is fitted with a stainless steel bracelet, reinforcing the versatile sports-watch style that has made the SKX-inspired 5 Sports range so popular.
Inside both the HDB004 and HDB005 is Seiko’s 4R36 automatic movement. This well-known movement includes 24 jewels, manual winding, a stop-seconds function, and an approximate power reserve of 41 hours. It is a practical and reliable movement often used across Seiko’s accessible automatic watch lineup.
The two models share the same stainless steel case dimensions. The case measures 42.5 mm in diameter and 14.2 mm thick, with a 46 mm lug-to-lug length and a 22 mm lug width. On the bracelet, the watch weighs around 169 g.
Water resistance is rated at 10 bar, equivalent to 100 meters, making these watches suitable for daily wear and light water activities. Magnetic resistance is listed at 4,800 A/m. Seiko’s LumiBrite is applied to the hands and indexes, improving readability in low-light conditions.
The watches use a curved Hardlex crystal rather than sapphire. This is common across much of the Seiko 5 Sports range and helps keep the models positioned in the more affordable automatic watch segment.
Other features include a unidirectional rotating bezel, a see-through screw case back, and a three-fold clasp with push-button release and secure lock. These details make the HDB004 and HDB005 feel familiar to fans of the modern Seiko 5 Sports SKX formula.
The biggest unknown remains the price. Seiko has not yet confirmed how much the HDB004 or HDB005 will cost. However, another closely related 5 Sports SKX model scheduled for the same release window is listed at $450, which may offer a useful clue.
The full international reference numbers are HDB004K1 and HDB005K1. With their shared specifications, automatic movement, stainless steel construction, and two very different dial styles, these upcoming Seiko 5 Sports SKX models are likely to attract attention from both new buyers and longtime Seiko enthusiasts.
