Seiko Astron Nexter HAB009J and HAB010J Debut With Crystal-Inspired Dials and GPS Solar Power
Seiko has introduced two new limited-edition Astron Nexter watches, bringing striking mineral-inspired designs to its high-tech GPS Solar lineup. The new models, the green HAB009J and burgundy HAB010J, combine bold color, lightweight titanium construction, and Seiko’s advanced 5X63 GPS Solar movement.
Both watches are priced at ¥352,000 including tax, which is approximately $2,226. Reservations begin on October 8, with deliveries scheduled to start on November 7. Seiko will produce 1,500 pieces of each model worldwide, with 500 units of each reserved for Japan. Each watch will also feature a numbered caseback, reinforcing its limited-edition status.
The standout feature of the Seiko Astron Nexter HAB009J and HAB010J is the dial design. Seiko says the theme is inspired by crystals forming over long periods inside deep black rock. To capture that idea, the dials feature a diamond-lattice pattern that gives the surface a textured, gem-like appearance.
The HAB009J pairs a rich green dial with yellow-gold accents, creating a sharp contrast against the black case. The HAB010J takes a warmer approach, using a burgundy dial with rose-gold details. Both versions are housed in all-black cases, giving them a modern and dramatic look while allowing the dial colors and metallic accents to stand out.
The cases are made from pure titanium, making the watches lighter and more comfortable than many stainless steel models of similar size. Seiko has finished the titanium with its Super Black Diamond Shield coating, a hard protective layer designed to improve scratch resistance while giving the case its deep black appearance. Gold-colored plated sections add a premium touch to the case and bracelet design.
In terms of dimensions, both models measure 43.4 mm in diameter, 12.4 mm thick, and 50 mm from lug to lug. The watches are protected by sapphire crystal with Seiko’s Super Clear Coating, designed to improve visibility by reducing reflections.
At the center of both limited editions is Seiko’s Caliber 5X63 GPS Solar movement. This movement can connect to GPS satellites to adjust the time and time zone automatically, making it especially useful for frequent travelers. Since it is solar-powered, it does not require regular battery changes. On a full charge, it can run for around six months, or up to two years when power-saving mode is activated.
Even when the watch is not receiving a satellite signal, the movement remains accurate to within approximately 15 seconds per month. The feature list is extensive and includes a perpetual calendar programmed until February 2100, world time across 38 time zones, dual time display, daylight saving time support, airplane mode, automatic hand position correction, and a power reserve indicator.
The watches also include a 1/20-second chronograph capable of measuring up to 24 hours, adding a practical sports-watch element to the refined travel-watch design.
Both the HAB009J and HAB010J offer 10 bar water resistance, making them suitable for everyday wear and light water exposure. The titanium bracelet is fitted with a one-push three-fold clasp and a micro-adjuster for easier fit adjustments. Seiko also includes a calf leather strap in the box, giving owners another styling option.
These new Astron Nexter limited editions share their case and movement with a recently announced premium Nexter model associated with Shohei Ohtani, but they arrive at a lower price. That model was priced at ¥440,000, making the HAB009J and HAB010J ¥88,000 less expensive while still offering the same core case design and GPS Solar technology.
With their crystal-inspired dials, black-coated titanium cases, advanced GPS Solar movement, and limited production numbers, the Seiko Astron Nexter HAB009J and HAB010J are positioned as attractive options for collectors and enthusiasts looking for a modern Japanese watch with strong visual impact and practical travel-ready features.
