Seiko’s Edo Murasaki 145th anniversary watch collection is now available for preorder in Japan, bringing a striking purple-and-gold theme to some of the brand’s most popular lines. The collection is scheduled for release on October 9 and includes a total of nine limited-edition watches, with prices ranging from ¥63,800 to ¥330,000, or roughly $400 to $2,071.
The Edo Murasaki collection celebrates Seiko’s 145th anniversary with a color story inspired by the deep purple shade associated with Japan’s Edo period. Across the lineup, Seiko combines this historic purple tone with gold accents, giving the watches a refined anniversary look while still keeping each model’s individual personality intact.
Six of the watches have been announced for international markets, though Japan receives separate allocations for each model. The Astron HAB011J is limited to 2,000 pieces worldwide, with 700 reserved for Japan. The Prospex Speedtimer HBJ005P will be produced in 8,000 pieces worldwide, including 1,000 for Japan. The Alpinist HBC006J is limited to 7,000 pieces globally, with 1,000 units allocated to Japan.
The Presage Cocktail Time HCB006J is capped at 6,000 pieces worldwide, with only 500 available in Japan. The Seiko Selection Rotocall HFL001P will see 3,900 units produced globally, including 400 for the Japanese market. Meanwhile, the Seiko 5 Sports HDB003J has the largest production run at 9,999 pieces worldwide, with 999 pieces set aside for Japan.
Several additional models appear to be exclusive to Japan. The Astron HAC003J is limited to 500 pieces in Japan, while another Astron model, the HAD003J, is listed at ¥176,000. The lineup also includes the Lukia HEE004J, a women’s model limited to 400 pieces and available only in Japan.
Preorders are currently being handled through Seiko’s Japanese online store, but availability is restricted. The store only ships within Japan, and checkout requires a Japanese delivery address and prefecture selection. This means collectors outside Japan may need to use a proxy buying service if they want to secure one of the domestic-only references.
The most expensive model in the collection is the Astron HAB011J, priced at ¥330,000. It is a GPS Solar chronograph with a two-tone bracelet, combining Seiko’s high-end satellite timekeeping technology with the Edo Murasaki anniversary design. At the other end of the range, the Seiko 5 Sports HDB003J starts at ¥63,800, making it the most accessible option in the collection.
The Prospex Speedtimer HBJ005P stands out with its solar chronograph movement and lilac-toned dial, giving the sporty Speedtimer format a softer, more commemorative appearance. The Alpinist HBC006J brings the Edo Murasaki theme to Seiko’s adventure-focused line, featuring a compass bezel and distribution through select Core Shop channels.
The Presage Cocktail Time HCB006J adds a more elegant touch to the series. Its design is linked not only to the Edo Murasaki color but also to a cocktail of the same name created by Hisashi Kishi of Star Bar. This makes the Presage model one of the more story-driven releases in the anniversary lineup.
For fans of digital watches, the Seiko Selection Rotocall HFL001P offers a black-and-purple digital alarm chronograph design. Its limited production run and retro-inspired format could make it especially appealing to collectors who enjoy Seiko’s more unconventional releases.
All listed prices include Japan’s 10% consumption tax. With limited production numbers, Japan-only availability for several models, and a distinctive anniversary design language, the Seiko Edo Murasaki collection is likely to draw strong interest from collectors ahead of its October 9 launch.
