Seiko Prospex 1965 Heritage Diver HBC011 arrives as a fan-voted limited edition with a vivid Daytime Blue dial
Seiko is giving dive watch fans something they directly helped create. The new Seiko Prospex 1965 Heritage Diver HBC011 is a limited-edition release shaped by public voting, and its standout feature is a bright “Daytime Blue” dial inspired by sunlight reflecting across the ocean.
The watch comes from Seiko’s “1965 Diver New Model Voting Campaign,” held in July 2025 as part of the brand’s celebration of 60 years since its first dive watch. Fans were invited to choose from four ocean-themed dial colors representing different moments in the day: Sunrise Orange, Daytime Blue, Late Afternoon Green, and Sunset Red. The winner was Daytime Blue, a lively turquoise shade designed to capture the look of the sea under the midday sun.
Limited to 4,500 pieces worldwide, the Prospex 1965 Heritage Diver HBC011 continues Seiko’s long-running connection to professional-style dive watches. Its design draws from the brand’s original 1965 diver, often associated with the historic 62MAS, while adding modern materials and specifications for today’s collectors and everyday wearers.
The stainless steel case measures 40mm across, 13mm thick, and 46.4mm lug-to-lug, giving it a balanced size that should suit a wide range of wrists. It features a curved sapphire crystal with an inner anti-reflective coating, a screw-down crown, a screw-down caseback, and a unidirectional rotating bezel. Water resistance is rated at 300 meters, making it a serious dive watch rather than just a vintage-inspired design piece.
The dial is one of the main attractions. Its wave pattern adds texture and depth to the bright blue finish, giving the watch a more dynamic look as it catches the light. This wave motif is also tied to Seiko’s dive watch history, taking inspiration from the wave mark that has appeared on the casebacks of Seiko divers since 1975. On this limited edition, the caseback also carries the “LIMITED EDITION” marking and an individual serial number.
Inside the HBC011 is Seiko’s Caliber 6R55 automatic movement. This movement offers manual winding, hacking seconds, 24 jewels, and a power reserve of approximately 72 hours. That three-day running time makes the watch practical for regular rotation, allowing owners to set it down for a weekend and pick it back up without needing to reset the time.
Seiko has also equipped the watch with a stainless steel bracelet featuring a three-fold clasp with push-button release. A useful slide-adjust system allows up to 15mm of extension in six 2.5mm steps. This is especially helpful for divers wearing the watch over a wetsuit, but it is also convenient for daily wear when wrist size changes due to heat, activity, or travel.
For visibility, the hands, indexes, and bezel marker are treated with LumiBrite, Seiko’s luminous material designed for legibility in dark or underwater conditions. The watch also has magnetic resistance rated at 4,800 A/m and an accuracy range of +25 to -15 seconds per day.
The Seiko Prospex 1965 Heritage Diver HBC011 is scheduled for a global launch in October 2026. Pricing is set at £1,350, €1,550, ¥199,100, and AUD $2,200, depending on the market.
With its fan-selected color, ocean-inspired wave dial, 300-meter water resistance, and 72-hour automatic movement, the HBC011 looks set to become one of the more appealing Seiko Prospex limited edition dive watches for collectors who appreciate both heritage design and everyday durability.
