Samsung’s recent Galaxy Unpacked event lived up to its hype, spotlighting the future of tech with a focus on AI and a significant partnership with Google. The undeniable star of the event, however, was the introduction of the new foldable line, where the Galaxy Z Flip 7 held its ground with a familiar price, but it was the Galaxy Z Flip FE that truly stole the show with its affordability and appeal to a broader audience. This South Korean tech powerhouse unveiled a budget-friendly variant that packed premium features without breaking the bank.
The Galaxy Z Flip FE distinguishes itself with the same sleek display design as its predecessor, the Flip 6, marking a promising step for those looking for budget-conscious options in the foldable space. Typically, the high price of foldable phones can be a barrier, but Samsung aims to change this with the introduction of the Galaxy Z Flip FE, a Fan Edition designed to be more accessible. While it strips down on certain premium features to maintain a lower price point, it still offers a compelling package.
Equipped with the Exynos 2400 chipset, 8GB of RAM, and up to 256GB of storage, the Galaxy Z Flip FE promises robust performance. Though it lacks the 12GB RAM option found in the Z Flip 7, it shares the same powerful processor, ensuring a similar performance level. The device features a 6.7-inch AMOLED 2X internal display, with a smaller, less interactive outer screen compared to the Flip 7, which assists in reducing costs.
The cover display mirrors that of the Galaxy Z Flip 6, boasting a 3.4-inch Super AMOLED screen. While it might seem like a downgrade, this decision is likely a strategic move to keep prices competitive. The introduction of a full cover screen in the Z Flip FE marks a significant shift, as this feature was once reserved for premium models. With a 4,000mAh battery and 25W charging support, it promises to keep users powered throughout the day.
Photographically, the Galaxy Z Flip FE doesn’t disappoint, with a dual-camera setup comprising a 50MP primary sensor and a 12MP ultra-wide sensor. Predictably, it omits a telephoto lens, in line with earlier expectations. Available in classic Black and White, the model is competitively priced at $899 and is now open for pre-orders on the company’s official website.
